I think Roloson would do well under a backup role at his age. Also like the Conklin suggestion, was great in Pittsburgh and Detroit

The same Roloson who will probably be the starting goalie in Tampa?

Auld, Garon or Harding are my top choices. Any of those three would be great.

It's definitely a stretch for him to fall to a backup role. He will be a ufa and it could be difficult for him to handle a full time starter role. There's no doubt he would be an awesome backup though.

But yes, most likely he resigns with Tampa.

Josh Harding. I believe this guy has unreached potential and he will push Anderson as a solid number 2. As a young team with little playoff aspirations this season, I would pick Harding as a project as opposed to an established backup G like Auld (my 2nd choice) or Conklin.

I hope they are able to find someone with starter potential (maybe a European free agent) instead of giving the icetime to a career backup.

Any legit starter in the league would serve well as a back up lol

Harding, Garon, Auld.

Harding would be my absolute number 1 choice. He was supposedly a number 1 goalie in the works but his development got delayed due to injuries. He is still an amazing goalie with great work ethic and if Anderson goes down, Harding can do a brilliant job to fill in.

Garon is a perfect hardworking team kind of guy who is also excellent in the shootout.

Auld is a no brainer.

I second this. Harding would be great. Still has untapped potential and just needs a new scenary. Otherwise I wouldn't be oppose to let Lehner backup

I love Emery, but when we're talking back-ups: it's McBack-up for me.

I meant that he would perform better as a backup at his age as opposed to a strenuous starter workload

The only issue is how well Harding recovers from his injuries. I really have liked his play before this past season though. I agree with the the rest of your post as well. Seems like we think a like.

There is no way in hell Roli will sign anywhere as a back up.

Lalime, huh?

Did anyone place a call to Tugnutt and Rhodes while we are at it as well?

Bring in the guy with the most potential.

IMO that's Harding.

Harding is my choice...LOL if anyone thinks Melnyk will pay to have Emery on his team again - he was paying him to get RID of him, not to mention all the problems and the injuries Ray brings...no thanks. Eugene would not be happy if BM even mentioned his name to him...lmao

Here is my rankings of the top 5...Left our the goalies who i thought came with too much luggage

1. Harding - Fit's into what we are doing, could turn into a asset
2. Garon - Depending on the price, could be a expensive back-up
3. Auld - Seasoned back-up, knows his role
4. Conklin - cheap backup who will be just okay
5. Turco - Wildcard pick, who may help Anderson's play as long as he knows his role...lol...

I really don't think Conklin is a good option. The guy put up Leclaire like stats on STL last season. He has had some good years as a backup but he has also had some pretty horrible years too.

A younger goalie like Desjardins or Dekanich would be great. But i am ok with Garon, Conklin or Hedberg.
