I'm a bit surprised by this....I thought they would keep him and that Lavy really liked him. Must be that he wants over 1M or Flyers have other plans for his replacement or he's just a casualty of a bigger replacement to come...
Anyone think Rinaldo has a shot at 4th line? I think he has that Carbomb crazy in his eyes and some speed/hitting like Powe. Did he ever kill penalties on the Phantoms... or was he always the one in the box (sounds that way from what I have heard)? For whatever reason he got to play in the play-offs.

Didnt spend a minute on the pk. Always in the box.
The odds of both Schenn and Couturier making the team out of camp just got a whole lot better.
neither are 4th line players. I mean, I guess it might put Nodl on the 4th line for sure, and possibly open a spot. But I think we add another 4th line type veteran.
Despite assurances in the press that no more major moves are in the team’s future, rumors have persisted that Philadelphia is interested in several free agent forwards. Among those mentioned are UFAs Brooks Laich and Brad Richards. There have even been murmurs that Holmgren will attempt to sign Tampa Bay Lightning RFA Steven Stamkos to an offer sheet.
While it would seem inconceivable to think a team could pry the goal-scoring wunderkind away from the Lightning, most would have said the same about the possibility of Richards and Carter being dealt away within an hour of each other this time last week. Those moves show that just about anything is possible in the new NHL – even with a restrictive salary cap in place.
With 19 players under contract for the 2011-12 season, Holmgren is in excess of $6.7 million beneath the cap ceiling. Talk continues to be that winger Kris Versteeg and his nearly-$3.1 million cap hit may be on the move at some point, and Holmgren could really increase the amount of salary he has to work with by getting Scott Hartnell to waive his NTC and move the left winger out of Philly. With the departure of Richards and Carter, Hartnell incredibly is now the Flyers’ second-highest salaried forward (to Danny Briere’s $6.5 million).
Philadelphia still has the matter of re-signing Ville Leino, who is set to become an UFA Friday. Leino is reportedly seeking something in the neighborhood of $4 million per year in a new deal. Holmgren also has to sign newly-acquired RFA forwards Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds, and it is looking increasingly likely that RFA Dan Carcillo will not be brought back.

They do need another forward and Dman and have more than enough cap space. One thing though: Homer plays the kids. Sbisa made the team as an 18-year old Dman and Parent got stepped up quick too. Giroux had a bad camp but jumped to the big club quick and JVR made the team out of camp. If I had to bet a dollar on both or neither making it out of camp, I'd bet both. Don't forget Couturier can still go back to the Q after his 8-10 game look-see, but can't play in the A. Schenn's a pro no matter what.

??? Schenn would be playing 3rd line center. I HIGHLY doubt they go and get another center for this team during FA. It will either be signing Leino or another FA to play in the top 9. If they think Nodl still can play offense (which he really can't), then grab a pk 4th line guy. I personally think they are going to do what I said in the beginning, Leino or a FA guy.
Wow, Leino looking for $4 million? Give me a break. I am a big Leino fan, and I would be willing to overpay for him at $3.5, but no way he is getting $4 million anywhere (or at least he shouldn't) unless he is going on a one year deal somewhere that a team is just trying to meet the cap floor.
I will miss Powe, solid guy on the pk and he must be frustrating as hell to play against. Never stops skating and hits everything that has a pulse. He is a 4th line player though, and as such hopefully easily replacable.
