going to first game @ Bell Ctr

Since the 2011-12 season schedule was released, my wife and I have decided to finally go to my first home game in Montreal. Its been a dream of mine since I remember

We are going to be coming from Toronto, so thought of taking the train, staying at the Fairmount (we stayed there before - so close to the arena). But my ques is this: where/how is the best place to get tix? Ticketmaster? When do they go on sale?

I would really love to see Mtl vs Toronto (she is a Maple Laughs fan-poor soul).

Any inside tips/suggestions help.

Many thanks

I got my tickets just by going on the habs website. but you gotta make sure you're there right away when they start going on sale, so you can get the seats you want.

I went to the centennial game between montreal and boston the other year, and let me tell, the feeling of walking into that arena....it is something beyond this world. To this day I don't know how to comprehend it. Walking up the stairs and passing the openings of a roaring crowd...man, i was freezing with goosebumps, my hands were shaking, and my heart was thudding almost out of my chest. I expected loud, and anticipated my excitement, but when I walked in there, I had not been prepared for the feeling that over took me. It was an everlasting intoxication. I felt nothing else outside that game and that time mattered. You will see for yourself. Good luck.

1) Arrangement via Kijiji prior to leaving
2) Online sites, google should help
3) Outside the Bell center (rip off)

Any methods other people brought up. I'd go with Kijiji personally, have gotten good deals on there before.

Once got a good deal via HF too.

I'm planning my first ever pilgrimage for my 40th in February. NJ on the 19th and Dallas on the 21st. There could be a bunch of us going. How many do you need for "group sales"?

You're going to have to buy them from Habs website then, when they go on sale.

I called. Individual tickets go on sale 2nd week in September. They sell like hot cakes (go figure). Group sales registration is late July with a random draw in August for your select dates.

They'll announce it a week or a couple of days ahead of time. Don't remember when usually, but don't worry. You'll even read it on this website.

I've bought them off Ebay before, they were mailed to my house well in advanced.

There are also ticket reseller websites. I won't mention any names because I'm not sure if it is allowed. But there are some bigger reputable sites out there.

Also there is a sticky at the top of this page for forum members to get rid of there tickets at face value I believe.

edit: I went to my first playoff games 2 years ago in the playoffs, it was one of the top 10 experiences of my life. I can't wait to go again this year. I didn't bother going last year after Markov and Gorges got injured.

like everyone said try buying them off the habs website when they go on sale...chances are you wont get any since the demand is so high.

Stubhub is your best bet (prepare to pay 1.5-2 times face value).

Theres nothing better than a Saturday night Habs versus Laffs game.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but last year I got tickets for 3 consecutive games off of the Habs website. Before the day of the ticket sale, have your top 10 games ready to go. I got insanely lucky and was picked 10 minutes in so I got a game against Toronto on a Saturday (which was my first choice). You can only buy a max of 4 tickets to one game when your turn comes up. Since it was just me, I was able to get single tickets for the games before (Islanders) and after (Sabres) later in the year, again from the website.

The lesson is don't count the website out so soon.

Saw my one and only habs game in Montreal just over a year ago, and the only tip I can give you is, make sure you take in the Bell Centre tour. It was definately a highlight of my trip there.

Do it when they come on sale in Sept, always a Saturday afternoon mid Sept around noonish? But be prepared to sit there all day and wait, I do it every year and usually have to wait about 3 hours and we have 3 different houses with computers working on getting them. The wait and nerves might be a little hard to handle but it's worth it, tickets at face value and the security factor too.

Prepare to shop for earplugs after you actually purchase the tickets...
