Like you Frankc I think I'm missing something?

Flyers get a 3rd round draft choice from Minny for Powe (who is a RFA and whom Philly apparently was not going to qualify) and the Habs just let Pouliot and Pyatt walk and get nothing - like zero in return?

Can someone explain this to me?

Would appreciate any legit guess or explanation!

And what if this is.....as good as it gets (for the Habs)?
never occured to you they tried but no one was ready to offer Habs anything for those two players ?

I mean, what do you think, someone offered PG a 3rd or 4th for one of them and he refused ?

drop that line from your (every) post... "sound" retarded.

The HABS get nothing for Benoit Pouliot and Pyatt?

UN-believeable!

If PG didn't bother shopping them....likely no one offered (especially if a team might sign either player without giving up something).

Just don't see Darroll Powe being as valuable (or arguably any more valuable) Than Pouliot and or Pyatt!

But all the evidence (not to mention just plain common sense) suggests that PG did shop them (Pouliot especially) extensively and there were no takers.

Why would you then assume the opposite to be true?

I liked Pyatt but I'm sure he gets an NHL job on a bottom feeder just as a PK specialist.

Pouliot I could see a team taking a chance on. Picard will likely end up in the AHL.

This is actually a good sign though imo. It means Gauthier is likely looking to add to the bottom 6, maybe even top 6.

PS: I'm Pouliot's case they may be looking to re-sign him at 1 year better value.

Daroll Powe has value. he brings something to the table.

Pouliot brings nothing. Pyatt too...

Give me one team that would be interested in any of our non-qualifiers when you can get them for cheap after july 1st without giving a draft pick...

I strongly doubt. The guy is in Martin's doghouse since the very beginning. Every player that Martin hates, is gone.... But I could see Pyatt being given another two-way contract. Martin loves him.

PG has finally realized that having a better bottom 9 is essential. Upgrading is the way to go. Let's hope they do better than Travis Moen this time. I really hope the Pro scouting of Larry Carriere is better than PG himself under Bob Gainey.

So, Martin was responsible for Pouliot sucking in Minnesota?

Apparently Lemaire can't develop players for **** either. Look at Minnesota, they failed to develop so many young players.

Gaborik doesn't count blah blah blah.

Always the coache's fault.

I actually hear callers at CKAC saing that Pouliot did not get a fair chance in Montreal....

Unreal.

i guess those 20 game stretches on the first line weren't enough.

At one point it is put up or shut up, and it is nobody's fault but the player himself.

That said.... it would have been nice to get some late round picks for these guys.....if possible.

Powe makes 725,000 a season. A team taking Pouliot as an RFA would have to pay him at least 1.35 million. There's your reason right there.

You have to look at the context of things if you want to understand them.

I still find it laughable the kind of disrespect Moen gets around here.

The same people who spew ******** out of their ass about toughness and wanting to sign guys who can't even play 10 mins a night and suck at everything but faceoffs and fighting, are the same people who want Moen gone. News flash, Moen isn't a detriment to our team, he's a contributor, it isn't his fault he was asked to play on a top line where he doesn't belong. He's solid in other roles.

He's a role player that plays in his means. But people expected him to be a lot tougher.

Sure, but I personally don't want players who are just there to fight. Moen can play hockey - solid PKer, solid checker, and can chip in offensively once in a blue moon. If he has to drop the gloves, he will.

I'd like someone who fights a bit more frequently, but not at the expense of usefulness.

If you want Moen to play tougher get a heavyweight on the roster for games against Boston, Toronto etc That way Moen can play tough without having to deal with guys like Thornton Orr Parros etc

Do you really think there was value out there and PG was just too lazy to offer Pouliot and Pyatt to other GMs? Powe has value, Pouliot and Pyatt don't. I'd consider Powe an upgrade over either. He plays PK and he hits.
