As horrible as McGuire could be sometimes, he's the only national colour commentator with a clue doing hockey. The current crop of former players just spew platitudes punctuated by moments of supreme idiocy. At least McGuire actually had something insightful to say on occasion.

I noticed during TSN's coverage of the draft that Pierre was not as involved as usual.
Definitely in the shadow of other "hockey insiders" like Mckenzie and even Dreger.
Pierre wants to be the lead dog! The "Cliff Claven" of hockey broadcasting!
After realizing he is not on the radar for any team as a GM, he probably need a little less time on the road!

Good riddance.

I'm sure I'll hate his replacement, but at least he's gone.

Atleast on the radio he speaks his mind. On TV he'll never actually say that someone sucks, and if he does, he tries to do it in the nicest way possible.

I like him, I don't know why.. Its not like I really watch TSN games anyway. Other then in the playoffs or if the Sens are playing.. Watching Montreal play Boston gets pretty boring..

I highly doubt he will still be on the radio, at least on Team 1200. His presence is part of the TSN synergy; what with both entities being owned by the same parent company. It's the same reason Bob McKenzie is on during the pre-game shows and why Darren Dreger has subbed for both of them on rare occasions.

Especially if Team 1200 follows through on the expected re branding to TSN Radio 1200 in the fall as expected. I think we'll see Darren Dreger each morning on TGOR.

Ray Ferraro will be a great main colour man for TSN, and they have been grooming Mike Johnson to be their other guy, or possibly give Aaron Ward a shot.

Where Pierre's presence will definitely be missed is during the WJC... Definitely a huge loss there.

I believe they said this morning that he would be remaining, but not certain.

Glad to see him go, his biggest problem (other than mooncalf swooning over players he likes) was that he just couldn't ever shut up.

It was stated this morning on Team 1200 that Pierre will be doing the morning call-ins again next season.

Regardless the man is annoying. One day he hates clouston, the next day after he is fired he says murray is wrong for doing it and that the problem was never clouston. He flip flops back and forth all the time. He just tells people what they want to hear and pretends he best friends with everyone in the league. It's beyond annoying. Glad to see him go, he was never of fan of ottawa and didn't have anything good to say about them. It only got worse too after he thought he might get the job but didn't.

Indeed. I actually like him on TV as well, but I don't care too much about him leaving TSN. People take their hate for him way too far.

Nope, didn't read the article. Figured everything relevant was stated in the post title. Sounds like he's still employed by TSN in some capacity.

That's pretty bad news. I'm one of the few Pierre McGuire fan. The guy clearly knows about hockey, watches lots of it and often points out things that happen on the ice that can go unnoticed on a broadcast camera or from the press box.

He was one of the main components that made the WJC as big as it is today. You finished watching the tournament feeling you knew a few of the players much better because he had so much info on each prospect.

Very disappointed that TSN didn't keep him. They have a great team there and Pierre was a big part of it.
