Oh my god, what the **** are people always complaining about?! Vandermeer is not a bad pickup.

Boyle
Burns
Vlasic
Demers
Murray
Braun

Out of those six who's the only guy that plays physical? Murray. That is not a good setup, you need more physical presence. Vandermeer adds that.

So for once can we just stop this complaining crap?

It would seem DW has learned from the Huskins and Wallin contracts. I hope he doesn't go do something stupid right after I post this lol.

Or Vandemeer being the #6 w/ Moore as the #7.

Braun, Moore and Vandemeer will be fighting for that #6 spot.
But isn't Vandermeer almost a lock for #6 because of his defensive ability. Vandermeer is better than Braun or Moore when it comes to defensive play.

I like the deal. He was asked to play outside of his comfort zone last year on a very green Edmonton team but here he can play in a #6 role and provide protection and grit.

Nope, they'll give Braun and Moore a good long look at camp. If he wins the spot he wins the spot. He's NOT an 82 game player, hasn't been, well, ever.

So, how is Vandemeer defensively? Is he solid and invisible like Huskins or does he have bad brainfarts like Wallin?

His footspeed is his worst asset, IIRC. Unlike Huskins, who doesn't get beaten by fast forwards. But he is good at moving the puck and is decent offensively.

He's also very tough. Douglas Murray tough; like he has inward toughness and grit, not just outward size/physicality. More Todd Harvey/Brian Marchment than Joe Thornton.

No. He is a 6/7 dman. He doesn't do well playing above his level. He is physical and subject to injury. Even if they use him as #6, there should still be at least 30 games from him along due to injury for Braun, Moore, whomever. I seriously doubt that they anchor him at #6. In terms of extra games from the other 5, figure 5 from Burns, 10 from Boyle, 2 from Vlasic, 5 from Demers and 10 from Murray. That's another 32 games. There should be about 60 games from the extra dman spot at a minimum.

On the SJ sharks roster page, White is removed, but Huskins is suspiciously not!

Of course Vandermeer has to squash both White and Huskins idea...

Fleischmann 4 years, $18M from FLA.

Ridiculous Panthers... the guy makes 4.5M/year for 4 years, hit 20 goals once and is always hurt.

Moore should be Vandermeer's and Murray's backup and Braun should be Boyle/Burns/Demers backup. Have Moore as the 7th and call up Braun when needed.

Goc had some really good chemistry in Nashville with Erat when one or the other wasn't injured. Flash is similar to Erat but less speedy. It might work.

I wish I had Dale's phone number. I could use a raise, even as waterboy depth.
