Strange question for the group. For some reason, I have it stuck in my mind that in either the 03-04 or 05-06 training camp, there was a veteran NHL forward that came to camp on as a tryout/invite but was released.

I am sure that I am wrong, but I had it stuck in my mind that it was Cory Stillman.

I have tried a couple google searches but can't find anything. Anyone have any recollection?

I have it on good authority that our BJs will be taking the ice to this tune come October...

It's too...slow(?) for an intro song? Anybody else feeling the same way if this is true?

TSN's Scott Cullen recently did an article on "who hits the net most and least", and as part of it published four top-25 lists - defensemen who hit the net least, D who hit the net most, forwards who hit the net least, and forwards who hit the net most.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=371723

I recommend folks take a look. Mostly because there's only one Blue Jacket listed, and while folks might be able to guess which list he's on, I personally guarantee the actual player in question will be completely unexpected to nearly everyone here.

I see the jackets are having another select-a-seat open house next week. Is this something new or have the Jackets always had an event in addition to the draft party?

Looks like they're putting some effort into it....3 players will be there signing and looks like some activities as well...

The answer:
With a shots miss percentage of 24.3% - having only missed 41 of 128 shots on net (a surprisingly large number that puts him #3 in total shots in the top 25), we present to you #15 on the list of Defensemen Who Most Consistently Hit The Net... Fedor Anatolievich Tyutin.

I don't recall anything beyond one prior to the draft party for existing STH, then the draft party...that's been it for the summer in recent memory.

With the press conference / STH phone in Wednesday, then a open house select a seat Thursday, it certainly seems as if they're taking advantage of an opportunity to lock up additional STHs. I like it.

My guess was right but I don't think the ranking is - not that it's that far off.

Well, since there's so many such goaltenders and no chance for anybody to actually watch all of them regularly, I think they'll look at statlines and the last ten years of team history and rapidly conclude "dead last".

*checks*

Wow, I must be psychic or something.

(I think it's the rankings of Florida, Ottawa, Phoenix, Edmonton, and especially the Islanders that make me facepalm.)
