Flames shopping Kiprusoff

http://www.qr77.com/other/AudioVault.html

select the 6:00 pm hour and fast forward to about the fifty minute mark. Jock Wilson says that "you've heard it here first, my sources are telling me that the Flames are shopping Kiprusoff".

Total rebuild mode now folks.

The same station that reported Regehr for Ennis.

Forget the station, the guy who reported this was the first one to say that the Flames were about to fire the latest Sutter bum.

Even Eklund is right every now and then. I would like to hear from someone other than Jock Wilson.

Jock Wilson has never been wrong about anything in his life, ever. Please apologize to him and his family.

I will apologize if this is confirmed from someone else that is not from QR77. Or maybe I won't. You are killing me here.

Uh no. We're not trading a goalie with negative value here, if we're including our 1st, I would expect something else coming back with Varlamov.

In all seriousness, I could see something like a Kipper & Hagman package going to the Panthers. Regehr's potential return should of been bigger than what I would expect from dealing Kipper, so I wouldn't expect the return here to be very much. I would rather just keep Kipper and not see him traded for that reason.

I wouldn't use "confirmed with link"... not that you actually TAGGED it, rather than typed it out manually, but this would be classified a rumour. Whether you like it or not, a non-officially affiliated radio talk show or whatever this program is is NOT considered an official source.

Oh haha oops, my bad.

Though you are correct. If we want to trade Kipper, we need him to be solid all season long.

Also in that clip, the Flames need to re-sign Steve Staios...

In fairness, he did acknowledge that Staois isn't even able to play anymore. He obviously meant that we need a gritty defenseman to be signed.

I saw someone post Kipper and a first this year for Varlamov. NO. Varlamov might be heading over to Russia and the Flames would then have traded a pick in a draft supposed to be like '03 for a player that will never play for us.

If Karlsson can become our starter I wouldn't mind this. Package Kipper + Hagman to someone for prospects & picks.

I changed the thread prefix.

Whatever JW says, take it with a grain of salt.

Moving Kiprusoff's contract would be tough without giving up assets or taking major salary back. And I honestly don't believe that Karlsson is starter material yet. If we start with an Irving/Karl tandem, things will go south really fast. Our defense isn't looking great as it is and without Kiprusoff we will get shelled game in and game out. It might hurt our goalies' development.

I think it's best to give Karl more starts this year and let Leland get another solid year in the AHL. Then we can look to move Kiprusoff in the summer with two years left on his contract at 5 and 1.5 million respectively.

That definitely makes a lot more sense.

This would probably be best, that way we can turn Karlsson into a starter without stunting his development.
