Here's one way to look at it: Eklund isn't wrong. I'm sure a lot of teams are interested in Dustin Brown. You could say that Leafs interested in Crosy... Leafs interested in Staal (all of them)... Leafs interested in Ovechkin....

Brown is a huge part of that team and it would take a lot to pry him away from LA.

Didn't Chicago do that one year but manage to sign everyone anyway? Imagine if Tampa blew it.

Toronto is interested in everyone according to Eklund, Brown isn't going anywhere with that cap friendly contract.

Why would Richards make Brown expendable?

Brown is a winger, Richards is a center. The Kings have 3 top 6 wingers in Brown, Williams, and Penner. That makes them short one top 6 winger as it is. Williams gets injured frequently and Penner has 1 year left on his contract.

Meanwhile Brown is loyal to the organization, loves living in LA, is very responsible in the community, and has personally set up or is involved with quite a few community and charity events like building playgrounds and working at Children's Hospital LA. He's got 3 years left on a cap-friendly contract. Those are all things any organization loves.

Could Brown be moved? Anyone could be moved. But top 6 wingers is an area where the Kings are short players as it is. Unless they're getting an upgrade, moving him wouldn't make a hell of a lot of sense.

You know what awesome about this ...
In other threads everyone gives credit to incarcerated bob credit for being weeks early on these trades.

No one has been able to show where either of them nailed these trades before anyone else.

Send a message via MSN to Kurrilino
So.. the Kings are in desperate search of a winger and they trade thier best goal scoring winger away..............

Well... that makes sense

Kings need wingers to play on the Kopitar and Richards lines. Why move Brown?

Are the Kings going to take the Pens approach and load up with Centers and ignore the wings?

According to Eklund, the Leafs are negotiating for anyone and everyone in the league and I'm still waiting for that damn blockbuster deal he said would happen. Bigger than the Flyers trade? Yeah okay buddy.

Eklund has broken a LOT more trades than people give him credit for, going all the way back to Heatley for Hossa.

That said, he does spew a lot of garbage too.

I'm pretty bad at darts, but if I throw 500 darts at the board one of them is bound to hit the bulls eye, and 5-6 will be pretty damn close.

Also, not everything that gets talked about gets done. Just because a deal didn't happen, doesn't mean that it wasn't discussed or even close to happening.

Eklund got Gagne to TB as well. He's pretty accurate with trades surrounding Philadelphia. Everything else is garbage.
