LA-Phoenix Proposal

To LA: Daymond Langkow
To Pho: Eric Belanger + 2nd rounder in 2005

Reasoning: Both players are up for arbitration. Belanger will command approximately 1.2 million if the hearing goes his way. With Ricci around, and Phoenix no doubtedly having interest in some free agents (Demitra and Kariya have been speculated to have talks with Phoenix), they may want to deal Langkow.

LA has always been knowing to trade for their core players rather than signing them on the free agent market. Signing Conroy was arguably their biggest free agent signing in the last couple of years. Getting Langkow provides them another top 6er who would play well under Andy Murray.

thoughts?

I don't really think it is an unfair deal. However, I would rather keep Langkow. He is a really underrated player and a big part of the Coyotes.

As far as value goes the trade is ok, but Phoenix wouldn't make the trade because Langkow is an important player for them.

why would Phoenix trade a 1st/2nd line center for a guy that would be their third or 4th line center?

I actually like what they are doing...very strong down the middle.

Enless I missed someting

http://www.nhlpa.com/Content/THE_PLA...io.asp?ID=6234

for Eric B

http://www.nhlpa.com/Content/THE_PLA...io.asp?ID=3105

For Langkow

Langkow is a 20 goal man and Belanger is good for only 10 to 15 goals a year and pt wise--Langkow is also better

So I do not understand why the Dogs would do that deal

both are rfa's

Yep no chance.

Langkow was acquired for a 1st and a 2nd. The 2nds cancel each other out. No way is Belanger worth a 1st.

Add in the rivalry and Langkow's importance on the Homer line and its never going to happen.

as a Kings fan I would love to see Langkow in a king jersey, but the chances of this happening would be very slim

Why Belanger who is only one year younger than Langkow. If the Kings want Langkow I'd rather go for a young player like Cammilleri than a player who should be in his prime right now and is only scoring 15 goals a year. I wouldn't doubt Belanger to be a 50-point man a few times in his career but Langkow is already as consistant as they come. IMO of course

What if the deal was changed to Cammalleri and a 2nd rounder? Would that make more sense? It might make Comrie happy to have another old teammate around.

I would do the deal, but Phoenix gave up a 1st and 2nd for him, so they will want the same value back, and Eric Belanger is far from being worth a 1st round pick.

Plus, Phoenix wouldn't trade Langkow within their own division.
