Would anyone here consider Drury? Hes getting bought out so should pocket over 3 mill right there so i doubt hed look for a big contract. I know hes had injury problems but hes so clutch. He could definitely be a 3rd line player and if hes willing to play the wing and if he doesnt work out on the 3rd line He'd be an unbelievable 4th line centre

Took a look at the UFA list:

Upshall
Handzus
Langenbrunner
Talbot

That's my shopping list for free-agent frenzy.

Ottawa left a ton of young talent UFA, Butler, Condra, Potulny, Shannon, Daugavins.

Steal a few of those too!

Being in CT I see most of the Rangers' games..when he has been healthy, Drury looked rather useless. Gomez and Drury couldn't win anything together 2 years ago, why would they now? We'd be a laughing stock...

Langenbrunner would be i good fit imo, largely beacuse of the way the canadiens play and how things are in NJ. He certainly wouldn't be my first choice, but I can see the logic in some ways. I would much prefer Eager or Rupp for the bottom 6. I know most people won't like the former, but for a big guy he can skate...at least for the few times i've seen him play live, that was my conclusion. There really aren't many choices for a top 6 player via UFA's this year...I think a trade would be a best bet, that is, if there is one to be had.

From the TSN website, shurely shome mishtake? They must be RFA, non?

I'd try and steal Bobby Butler on an offer sheet. Time to start bullying the Sens and stealing their lunch money, they have too much young talent for their own good.

I'm still not seeing what the buzz about Konopka is. He's not really better than any of the Habs' fourth-liners and his one claim to fame is a skill he can't use in critical situations because you wouldn't send 4th-liners in these situations.

Take it that the bolded one is a typo considering Leino turned down a $3 million per year offer from Philly months ago? How much are you really prepared to pay for him?

Leino is the prototype of the guy who'll get ridiculously overpaid. Career year for counting numbers, soft minutes, favorable zone starts.

The defence is starting to come together, but I still think they need a legitimate #3 dman. To me, Ehrhoff is the number one choice. He is going to come at big money, but he can log a lot of minutes and play in any situation. I would offer him a 6 year contract at 5.25 cap hit, have the salary over the 6 years look like this:
Year 1 = 6
Year 2 = 6
Year 3 = 6
Year 4 = 5
Year 5 = 4.5
Year 6 = 4

Do you think that's an overpayment, underpayment, or about right? I think he is easily going to get 5 per on the open market. After this season both Gill and Spacek should be let go and hopefully Weber and Yemelin are ready for more prominent, full time, roles.

For Gorges, I would offer him a 3 year deal at 7mil. Salary of 2, 2.5, and 2.5, having a cap hit of 2.333333.

Eric Cole would add some size to our top 6-9 and would come in at 4.0M??? Also, he is from Montreal, isn't he? Not much left on the UFA market...

This might sound crazy but would we have money for an Elite Winger like Heatly ? We could get him for inexpensive because his value is low. Would he be good on the top line with Pleks and cammy ?

If Dany Floatley is elite, than Ales Hemsky is a demi-God. He is a demi-god for 3.4 million less.

I prefer getting a gritty winger rather than another goal scorer.
