It may be worse than "hoarders" some of us may need to get an Intervention thread going for the Barker/Bergfors fans

I'd say he's closer to the Moulson/Grabner than he is to Barker, but still not in their catagory. He's around Barker's age but with about only 100 games less NHL experience (esentially a season's worth). I could justify taking a chance on Bergfors over Barker, but I still don't feel like this team is desperate enough to pull the trigger on a move like this.

You started this thread, and replied that Garth should pick him up. My apologies, but perhaps you should have specified what you meant by "pick him up" earlier.

Yet still, there is no point in touching Barker. If we didn't want to upgrade on defense, Snow would have kept Gervais, Hillen, and Martinek (all three are more serviceable options than Cam Barker). If he ever becomes anything more than a 3rd pairing defenseman in this league I'll cut my own balls off.

I probably wouldn't do this.....Jurcina and Wishart are both big and less pylon-like.

Rather just woo the hell out of Ehrhoff on a high-yield 3-4 year deal.

This is about value for salary.

Doesn't mean he's not an NHLer.

He will play somewhere in 2011-12.

How much wooing do we go up to? I mean Bieksa got 4.5 and Ehrhoff has stated that he will not take less than that and Hamhuis's deal.

So what about a 5 year 6 mil / year?

We might need to go higher for him, this year.

He'll want 6-6+, if you give him that and turn he'll sign.

Barker will go Florida, because Tallon loves to re-acquire everyone he had in chicago...

Yes, for every Grabner there will be a dozen Schremps. Once again, it's easy to jump on the "claim [garbage player on waivers]!!" bandwagon when it's not your wallet the millions will come out of... IMO, even with the Isles' trouble luring FAs, they could still do a lot better for the money Barker makes.

Would anyone blink of Snow laid a 5yr./$32m contract on the table?

$6.4m would be hard for other teams to match...

I wouldnt bat an eye if Snow tossed that contract out to Erhoff.

And then 3.3 to Jussi Jokinen.

Then, play hockey.

Jokinen will probably get upwards of $4M in this market.

Not every top-5 pick is going to turn into Chris Pronger. Isles fans should know seeing as they watched Scott Lachance for eight years.

Winning teams don't dive through other teams' trash to build a winner. Grabner is the one-in-a-million exception.
