He'll be better than last year, that's all I'm expecting.

What i am hoping for...

2010-2011 Point Total + 1 = 2011-2012 Point Total.

2010-2011 Plus/Minus + 1 = 2011-2012 Plus/Minus Total.

45-55 points if he plays the right point on the PP(clouston seemed to be the only one who didn't think he was completely useless on the left side).

Agree. Hard to say how many points he puts up, but I don't see how he could be any worse than last year.

If he puts up 35+ points and helps Filatov adapt he will have been worth the contract.

Sarge should be fine. He looked really good at the start of last season. I suspect his offense will go way up, and his defence will be just as poor as last season.

He should be paired with Jared Cowen or Brian Lee

He needs a defensive partner. He doesn't play well when he's not the go to guy to bring the puck up the ice. He didn't play well when paired with Karlsson because he was so passive.

Yep, I expect him to be better than last season...as does everyone else. So naturally, he's gonna be even worse.

Any news on his recovery from the concussion. If he is fully recoverd, I think like a lot of the players that were banged up last year, the extended time off to heal will lead them to much better years.

You also get the feeling he is a lot more likely to connect with Maclean as a coach with substantial NHL coaching and playing experience.

To be honest I never really thought his defense was all that bad. He wasn't stellar by any means but I felt he got the brunt of the blame for playing in front of a goalie that was incapable of making the easy saves.

If you don't have a goalie who can make the easy positional saves, you either have to be diving in front of pucks like Volchie or play the entire game in the other end of the rink. With Anderson in place, I think Gonchar will have a much better season and just focus on what he needs to do rather than worrying about the goalie all the time.

Oh... somebody understands

The team played so bad that it was dismantled... veterans, coaching staff, goalies...

Gonchar looked a lot better at the end of the year before his injury. He was also good before the team massively slumped (was on pace for like +50 points after something like 20 games)

True, but Gonchar was pretty awful without the help of the others.

Hopeful MacLean's system will suit his play style better, but he really needs to step up this year.

He also doesn't play well when he is the guy that has to deal with the forecheck, he is most effective when his defence partner takes the hit to move the puck to him.

That was Ottawa's biggest weakness defensively, Karlsson, Kuba, and Gonchar really struggle with an agressive physical forecheck.

Hopefully the addition of Cowen and Rundblad will help.

****ing CC. Remember he moved Gonchar to the right pp for one game and he got like 2 goals and an assist, but CC moved him back to the left very next game!

Paulrus was the PP coach for the Red Wings. He worked with Linstrom. Gonchar is very simular. I am excited to see what our PP can do this year.
