They haven't even had a chance to bat any eyelashes yet, let's see what happens throughout the summer first.

If Kampfer fills that void, the team has a LOT of $$$ to spend on a forward...

Still hoping for Wiz but still fine with Kampfer if thats the route they take. Always been a fan of his game.

I think you misunderstood what i was saying.. we agree that Kampfer is not on Kaberle's level, dispite many on here thinking he is the answer

Boston Bruins sent out an email this afternoon offering Tomas Kaberle's negotiating rights. Van did same for Ehrhoff and found a deal.
Still hoping we can land Wiz

Kinda laughable IMO that folks think Kampfer could replace him.

I bet it will be the years that turns most clubs off.

I will be VERY surprised if Chia doesn't target a UFA of someone via trade to replace Kaberle, I sure hope he's not planning on rolling with Kampfer in that spot.

Disappointing that Kaberle was a rental. While he didn't help the PP much, like others said, that's really not his fault. The team's zone entry philosophy on the PP needs some serious work. The double barrel just isn't cutting it.

Still, I can't fault a guy who won a ring for looking to cash in. The team with the most loyalty wears powdered wigs and has green as its primary color.

The FA market is pretty thin now, given recent signings. Who would be realistic as a trade?

I think he will find a team for what he wants, because there are a lot of teams well below cap floor.

Vancouver just let their top d-man go for a 4th rounder.

This happens all the time.

It could be the player and not the team that doesn't want him hear.

Ya. PC must be going to fill the whole via trade perhaps... but the elite PMD's are disappearing fast... very fast.

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Cam Barker for cheap. Still young and I think a team like the Bruins could fix a guy like him.

Yeah but guys who would be an upgrade like Markov, Pitkanen, Erhoff are probably off the market. No one will be an upgrade on Kaberle and I am afraid tha the salary cap which has went up and with so little talent, players are going to get over paid.

I DO NOT want to trade more assets for another PMD. We essentially just traded 2 firsts and a 2nd for Kaberle, if we don't resign him, our replacement better come from the UFA marker because giving up more picks and prospects when we could have resigned kaberle doenst work for me...

Everyone is setting their sights on Wisniewski and Ehrhoff.. I think people should look at the second tier too people like Ian White, Anton Babchuk and even Ed Jovonovski too.

No other organization does this? So we're supposed to offer possibly our worst playoff D-man his first wish now that he's FA and a cup winner through not much of his own doing?

Every team in the league has pretty good staffs and can see what a lug he was. Let him test the waters. Chia's right. If someone wants to over pay, fine. We already did to get him. If he takes short money back, works out, and has even the slightest look of desire to be out there, he'll have to earn it. But not now, IMO.

Actions speak louder than words, so I will wait to see what Chia does in FA before I get too upset. I think by 'homerun' he meant Brad Richards or Ehrhoff. I am certain the Kaberle replacement will not be Kampfer.

Let's assume Ehrhoff is signed before friday. It would mean Pitkanen, Ehrhoff and Markov off market. Wisniewski and Kaberle will get ridiculous offers, that's for sure.

I don't think we will trade for a PMD but Ryan Whitney would be perfect, don't know if Edmonton will trade him. I'm pretty sure we could get Matt Carle on the cheap from Philly.

What about Babchuk? Or making a deal for Bogosian? There are way more option then just free agency.
