I heard a rumbling about Sutton for Foster and a pick...
Yeah, we had a thread on the rumors board a while ago that had this as a basis. It was one of the rare occasions where basically all fans for both sides agreed.
With Barker there in Edmonton, it would make even more sense.
I'm sure no income tax makes Florida look pretty damn good as well
No state income tax is not quite the benefit for a player that it is for you or I. Most states that have an income tax now charge state income tax for out of state players that play an away game in that state. This started about 10 -15 years ago, with Shaq and his salary of $200,000 plus per game being one of the main examples used by taxing authorities.
As an example, if a player makes $2 million a year, that is about $25,000 a game. California will require that player to file an income tax and pay income on that $25,000 for every game that the player plays in California. There is a tax credit granted for state income tax paid by that player in his home state. However, if there is no income tax in the player's home state, the entire payment is subject to California income tax.
Given the number of games that Florida plays in states that have income state income tax, such as New York, there is a reasonable state income tax hit for a player on the Panthers. The good news from the player's perspective is that he does not pay any income tax on the half of his salary that he earns in playing home games.

California income tax is 11% at that bracket. 11% NOT paid on 50% of 1.7M is still $93,500......
Again, I am ok with him not signing anyone yet(expect Goc). Guys are simply getting paid too much right now. Ward at 3 million? No thank you sir.
Yep totally agree with this.
I'm sure sometimes people just ***** about BM because of things he's done in the past. This is one of the few times your actually happy they haven't gone after anyone.
I think Miettinen could be a good 3rd line RW for us. I could see Murray signing him to a reasonable contract. Still unsure about our 3rd line center position however.
