I have always really liked Drury. I hope that he is healthy enough to play and can find a home with another NHL team. The guy is pure class.

I truly do like Drury. Best of luck to him with whatever team he goes to.

Could also be called ''Brad Richards'' to New York Rangers.

i would love drury as Chicago's 2nd/3rd line center
can probably be had for cheap

and if he gets injured - can always move sharp back to wing

i think it would be a great move for 1-2 years

This I why I don't care for the Rangers. They sign the top tier free agents, year in and year out. Ruin their career and then they can just get out of it. Just like Wade Redden. This is what the future holds for Marian Gaborik, Brad Richards and eventually another free agent. If they can't bury them in the minors, they will just buy them out and wash their hands of that player and do the same thing again with another star UFA. Don't UFA's see this? Doesn't Richards think, "Man, that could happen to me if I sign there". I don't see other teams spending money so foolishly and getting out of it. It is ridiculous.

No. What's ridiculous is demanding top money and screaming out "I am the mother****ing MAN" and then sucking balls. If you demand to be the team's highest paid player you better show up come game time. If you don't, just like with real world jobs, you get replaced. If this alone scares Richards b/c he's looking for a comfortable retirement home on ice, then he won't come to NY and both sides will be happier. If he still comes then it's likely he feels he can be more Messier than Gomez.

The Rangers didn't ruin Redden, Gomez or Drury. They were all given every opportunity but couldn't cut it and were given their walking papers. Sounds fair to me.

BTW, the Rangers ruining Redden -

If his knees aren't destroyed...than he deserves another chance. I'd like to see him back with Colorado or Buffalo.

Has Drury been put on waivers? I've only seen that he will be bought out today but no mention on him being on waivers. Isn't waivers the first formal step towards buying a player out?

I'd like to see him as a 3rd liner on the Hawks, but it would be cool to see him on the Sabres again.

Let the 'ing commence. Richards isn't even a Ranger yet and the yahoo's come out of the wood work talking about how he'll fail if he does sign there.

Hilarious stuff.

You're talking out your ass. Drury will be the first player the Rangers have bought out (not counting compliance buyouts). Plenty of teams have bought out players, so why are the Rangers wrong for doing so?

Redden was stashed in the minors because he didn't come close to living up to his contract. The Rangers made a mistake in signing him, no doubt, but they are hardly the only team to stick a high-priced player in the minors. Again, why are the Rangers singled out?

The system is what it is. The Rangers will do whatever possible within that system to build the best team they can. Whether or not they are successful is a different discussion. Point is, they aren't breaking any rules. They are only doing what the CBA allows them to do. So why the sour grapes? Just because the Rangers have the money to afford their mistakes?

Gaborik - TBD
Buying out Drury helps the situation but that's still money for nothing. Burying Redden is a fix that is not available to the majority of teams and doesn't require any skill as a GM.

There was a stretch under Sather in which the Rangers were horrible at drafting, although they've been much better in recent times. I also wouldn't consider him a genius at trades.

Best of luck to Drury, he certainly provided leadership and a veteran presence to the locker room (as seen on Team USA).

He's one guy I wouldn't mind seeing end up on the coaching staff of the Rangers (or any other team).

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but then I must ask. Who do you consider to be a genius at trades?

Um I think someone needs a RFA 101 refresher. The term "offer sheet" ONLY applies to a player that HAS been qualified, because by definition it only applies to RFAs.

Take that refresher course yourself. A qualified RFA is protected against an offer sheet. It's why Parise and Weber are suddenly no longer the talk of HF.

No, that's because their team took them to team-elected arbitration. Any player not qualified as an RFA becomes a UFA on July 1st. Any RFA not going to arbitration is eligible to be offer-sheeted.
