Well it could have been worse had you guys not filed for arbitration with Shea Weber. Aside from Kostitsyn, I really don't think you guys will suffer too much from this blunder.

Spaling is a key Pker for us and 3rd 4th liner. Same with Halischuk

Doesn't this mean the ball is in Weber's court now? He can go to arbitration and get a 1 year contract then bolt for $$$ if he wants to.. Am I right? Or has it been like this all along?

Agreed. Without knowing the details, all we have is speculation. This could be a minor speed bump or a major hurdle. We'll know soon enough...possibly by the end of the week (which would be July 1st, in fact).

No.
This has nothing to do with Weber. (you guys are lucky you requested arbitration)

Weber is RFA for 2 more years. If some how you guys ask for a 1 year contract in arbitration (not likely) He is still a RFA next year. BUT you will not be able to bring him to arbitration again. (he will still have the option)

You don;t need to QO players heading to arbitration.

Weber will qualify for UFA status in 1 year.

It will never go to arbitration IMO. He'll be traded if a deal isn't done before the hearing.

It's unrelated to weber, team already opted arbitration there.

BUT, it affects SK74, Cal O, Spaling, Halischuk and others..

Pretty sure he has 2 years of RFA left. Parise only has one.

Weber only has one year of RFA status. If he gets to the arbitration hearing he will sign a one year deal, at the end of which he will be a UFA. Trust us... we are fans of the team after all.

100% sure TSN guys said 2 years and that makes sense with how the CBA is writen.

SK74 was one of my fave's this year.

So why in the hell do you wait until the last freaking minute to qualify someone? Why not do it a little earlier just in case crap like this happens?

Well, this is unfortunate. I've got a bad feeling that this wont turn out well for the Preds. This is an inexcusable mistake, especially for a team on an internal budget.
