If Rabi is right about him still being RFA after the deal, I'd go closer to $5M than $4M.

Regier has usually been very good at getting reasonable second contracts (Paille, MacArthur, Sekera, Stafford all come to mind).

I'm gonna guess he gets 3 yrs, 4.5M.

3 years, $1.433 cap hit per McKenzie. Solid deal.

I was only .067 off in my guess.

Ditto. Though I was thinking about a 2-year-deal, so that's even better.

3yr/$4.3m/$1.433 cap hit. I'll take it.

So, how long until Gleason questions why Buffalo was unwilling to pay Kennedy $1m for one season, but was willing to pay Gerbe $4m+ over three seasons? You know it's coming.

Capgeek also has the $1.433 million/year figure. Getting Gerbe locked up is just one less thing to worry about now.

Everyone was seemingly in the ballpark with this one. It's Sekera that is the trickiest of the bunch IMO. And I truly question the reverberations his potential deal will send through management's plans... That's a topic for it's own thread, though

I expect Gragnani to be next, and obviously lower than Gerbe.

Go back to all the old "make your own lineup" type of threads... Gerbe was almost always pegged at 1.0-1.1.... being off by more then 30% isn't really "in the ball park" IMO.

I thought Sekera was the easiest to peg... he has the most NHL time, he has the most comparables in terms of age/defensemen/role... the question about Sekera is whether the Sabres want to commit to him. If you sign him for more then 1 yr, you are going to be closer to 3 mil per, then 2.

Not sure.

I have a feeling at least one more young dman is heading out the door, possibly two if we sign another dman in free agency. But thats another topic for another thread.

Very slight overpayment but no complaints, I mean he has a career high of only 16 goals and 31 points but he is a tenacious little guy and can't really nitpick here.

The question is when did we get a new GM? Who is this guy being active and not a guy sitting back twiddling his thumbs? I like this version of Darcy

I agree. I think it's Sekera.

He's due for a raise/commitment.

I think the Gerbe guesses were based on a 2 year deal. Mine certainly was. The extra coin might be for the additional year, though I've seen that work the other way, too, where a player takes a tad less for an additional year of security.

Sekera has comparables, but also has his agent pumping his best of times and the Sabres likely pointing to his worst of times (obviously). I think they'd be the most distanced parties (Sekera camp/Sabres) when compared to Grags and Weber.

Start the Sekera thread, please. It's such a big deal, such a huge topic for us to discuss. What he gets, what he's worth, what we do with him, arbitration, etc.

I think it has more to do with Pegula saying "go run the team the way a REAL team would."
