Haven't really liked it after 1 season of having one. though, I wonder how it would work out west? I would predict less callups by far than Elmira/Reading get.
Well unless the Sharks find a CHL team, or an AHL team that needs an extra goalie, it may very well be an ECHL team.

(FTR, a recent newspaper article has Stalock out until at least February, so there's one spot that might be able to be resolved by the trade deadline. Still have 1-2 "extras" that need a spot.)

Wonder if the Canucks with choose to affiliate with Gwinnett and keep the old Thrashers affiliation together.

Then that would leave a Winnipeg -> St. John's -> Colorado possible affiliation.

I doubt it, I guess with Pyle gone it's possible but Gwinnett whined about Chicago a lot.

That would lead to a Winnipeg -> St. John's -> Gwinnett!

How about that, the Thrashers move to Winnipeg only have their ECHL farm team just up the street still.

I heard Buffalo will replace Philly as one of Greenville's affiliate. Nothing confirmed just grumblings.

Wheeling re-ups with Hamilton/Montreal.

They will have a dual affiliation with Pittsburgh and Montreal.

Pegula made his money in the natural gas business, not oil.

Just saying...

Back to the topic at hand: It's about damned TIME that Buffalo get back into the ECHL. They haven't had an affiliate in that loop since they affiliated with South Carolina in the late 90s.

Close enough, that whole business will blow up in smoke eventually anyways.

Why not Elmira? Logically it makes sense. It's close to proximity to Rochester and the the jackals have sent players(like Michael Dubuc) that way before. The fans wouldn't mind if Pegula wanted to buy the team/arena from Afr and did nothing with it like in Rochester, just to get Afr outta town.

and, lets get this straight though. To the NHL Teams an ECHL Affiliate virtually means nothing, I can accept that. The AHL Affiliate is the one that matters.

True. To your first point: When Elmira first got into the ECHL, I thought that would be a perfect fit for Buffalo-granted, when the Sabres had their AHL affiliate in Portland, it may have been a bit of problem getting a player who had been called up to where the Pirates were playing next. With Elmira, however, if they were affiliated with the Amerks it's a quick trip up I-86 then I-390. It can be done in about 2 hours.

Had. It was a one year agreement. They could reunite but it's not a gurantee. When Howard Dolgon was whining it didn't look likely. We were only there for the proximity to Syracuse.

I think because of the proximity between Elmira and Binghamton they will always work together regardless. They worked together in 07-08 without an actual agreement.

How far is Elmira from Wilkes-Barre? In a couple of years when the deal between Pittsburgh and Wheeling runs out, I am curious as to othe ECHL affiliates.

basically 2 hours. We have so many potential options with proximity.

I think we have like 13 or 14 teams within a 4 hour radius from us.

With Syracuse? Yeah, but our agreement with Anahiem was one year. Might be re-upped, might not. Our management isnt sure if they want a dual affiliation.

Gwinnett is still open (no affiliate).....I don't think there is anyway they go back with the former Thrashers.....(need to start fresh).

Looks like the Colorado Eagles will affiliate with Winnipeg and St. John's:

Would be interesting, Manitoba had a historyu of being Hershey esque being the exception to the AHL rule, i could find Coloorado being in that type of group in the ECHL, so it would make some sense...

I would have thought Colorado would have affiliated with Colorado, maybe the NHL tie would help with increasing fans. Not that Colorado needs them, but it is always nice for more.

Dual Affiliation?

Colorado to my understanding has sold out every game, so i'm not sure they have room for new fans.
