that's like saying Elmira is very unstable, GMR, Haven't the Afr's destroyed that market yet just as they did Port Huron and Louisville
I won't deny i'm skeptical of the Afr family but they do also own the arena and get concession profits and only 8 of 36 home dates last season were under 3K in attendance(in a 4,000 seat arena)I think we are okay for now.
They actually weren't the last in Port Huron, Larry Kinney torched that market. And, we wouldn't be here today IF they had gotten that arena in Port Huron they wanted, but it fell through and they were stuck here.
And, your comparing an ECHL franchise WITH ownership to an NHL franchise without ownership. Apples to Oranges.
-Unstable...Atlanta relocated under a new ownership group. PHX has no owners, yeah...those two situations are definitely ideal...

and you have no clue whatsoever, GMR, ABOUT HOCKEY OR ANYTHING ELSE, for tht matter.... what does Gwinnett signing have to do w/ whom supplies the players

Well in my short experience with affiliated hockey(5 years to be this year)at this level, i've noticed the affiliate does tend to send down a handul of guys.

not sure how the deal works though, but usually from what I read (28/23) THE LAST 2 years now w/ WPG, this is our 1st full affiliation since Augusta (who folded the year after we passed them to Tampa).... Portland only had to use the E if really pushed to due to lack of players, etc..... I doubt the # of transactions will be higher than I've quoted......

Probably not, largely due to Gwinnett being forever away. I remember when portland was in WBS a couple of years ago they called up Justin Donati to play with them just for that night and we had no affiliation agreement. I could see them doing stuff like that more than calling up Gwinnett guys. Nothing in the rules against this.
Not sure how I feel about this. It obviously brings a crap load of talent but it also means we will probably cut somebody like Les reaney/Nino Musitelli type player for a guy that might not be here long. I'm not sure the fans win with this, we will likely be stacked in the beginning(again) but i think bingham deserves the benefit of the doubt, he wouldn't get back into this situation or told Robbie to go ahead if he didn't want it or couldn't handle it. It was apparent after awhile Malcolm couldn't handle much of anything.
However, and this is a bit odd to me, I'm not seeing any indication that the Canucks are part of the affiliation agreement, in spite of the fact that the Nucks and the Wolves are affiliated.
Is this normal? I was under the impression that if an ECHL or CHL team affiliated with anybody, it'd be with both NHL and AHL squads.

I would say yes but then I forgot...I don't think Vancouver has a replacement ECHL Affiliate yet. I could see an AHL team finding a 2nd AA team to latch on to for callups. I have no idea if there is a rule onhow many teams an NHL franchise can affiliate with(there may not be) The affiliations only matter for the AHL team really. I remember one year we worked "back" door with Binghamton and Ottawa was never our affiliate that year.
There have been several deals that were just AHL-ECHL. I can't remember specific ones but I know they've happened. I've even seen NHL contracted guys go to the AHL teams' affiliate despite the NHL team not being officially affiliated with the ECHL team.
That shocks me. Buffalo hasn't had an affiliate in years. We are 2 and a half hours away and are 2 hours from the AHL team. I'd love to know if words were ever exchanged before we signed our deals. Many fans are mad at how Syracuse/Anahiem bagged us come playoff team with an AHL team that had been out of it since Thanksgiving.

the Sabres never owned a franchise in a development league, either, despite Rochester's constant whining until 3 years ago forced that change..... look at Trenton, GMR... all they had to do was renew.... how would Elmira operate and/or compete competitively if it weren't affiliated?
