Based on what we're hearing for contract demands, he may be bye-bye independent of this signing. What I will be curious about is who else we go for if Hejda leaves.

What else I will be curious about, what will it take to get Wis signed. 4, 5, 6? That willl dictate how much we spend on the other player unless ownership just says screw it and goes all in.

I have a better feel for the Ehrhoff market.

I would offer him between 4.5 and 5 million over 5-8 years with a partial NMC.

I'd be ok with that. Hainsey money or a lot better player than Hainsey.

2 things (I'll assume you guys sign him since I want that 5th):

- Howson and Arniel must pair him with a strong defensive defenceman. It worked in MTL because he was paired with Hamrlik. Wisniewski can't be the ''leader'' of his pairing defensively. Hejda would be a good fit if he can be re-signed.

- Do NOT play him against the other team's best line. Howson has to put together a strong shutdown pair.

Yeah, I have no clue what Wiz may be hunting for. $4.5 million per would feel like a win to me (and hopefully would allow some more money to go elsewhere on the roster ....)

Methot is underrated defensively. Wiz would probably be paired with either Methot or Tyutin.

Just spoke with James Wisniewski, he's "excited about Columbus trading for his rights! He said that he's happy that team believes in him"

"Hopefully we can get something done (CBJ)."

lol, this is exactly why I am nervous. We don't have a shut down pair. Right now, we don't have anyone signed that can shut down anything. This analysis pretty much fits in with what I saw the few times I saw him.

Oh the humanity... :p

Can't both be done, I don't think. Could play with Methot (Wiz is a RHS) in your first scenario or Tyutin in your second. Both leave the "other" top pairing wanting, depending on whether another NHL defender is acquired.

Sounds like a done deal to me. Also, I'm sure that the Jackets must of obtained permission to talk either with him or to his agent to gauge interest in signing here before finalizing the trade. I would say that a signing is probably no more than 24 hours away. Good news. Let the excitement continue.

Awesome! Good to get something done! Or, at least, start to get something done. I'm starting to regain a teensy amount of faith in Niles.

I can see pairing him with Methot, the dude can move the puck and play defense. Methot out of the the back end, passes up to the Wiz who fires a cannon into the goal. A play we can see a lot of.

Only like 300 days quicker than Carter. Sounds like he's primed for a nice fat CBJ contract and the ability to feed the puck to Nash and Carter on the PP. I know that would make me smile.

We don't have a top pairing... No.... lol

We might as well build ourselves to play in the East one year sooner. Try and outscore everyone. Might work until the playoffs.

Make it so. Pair him up with Tyutin, gives us a legitimate shot from the point now

Great on the powerplay, incredible slap shot and passing but his defense is poor, specifically his decision making. If you pair him with a good defensive dman, it should work out.

I'd pair him with Methotman.

If we pair him with Tyutin...I shudder to think of some of the goals we would give up. U-G-L-Y

He probably want something around 5 ... 5,5

A lot of money for a guy like. Good offensively, bad defensively
