If Wiz is a 7th rounder for the Jackets, I'd have to imagine Talbot is a conditional pick based on signing.

The question is, who is renhockey?
And two, yes, what did we have to give up for this 3rd liner?

I hope that's the case. Fair enough.

Our top line center!
But seriously, I really like Talbot. Great leader and bottom 6'er who can do a little bit of everything. Clutch too

He's a decent player, wouldn't want him on a four year contract like he is supposedly after though.

Renaud Lavoie.
He works for RDS. He's had a couple trades up before Mckenzie and co. a couple times.

Hopefully signed at a decent price. Will help the Maple Leafs bottom-six if he does sign.

If it's anywhere from a 5th to a 7th, it's a good deal. 5th, 6th and 7th round picks have such a low chance of making the NHL, acquiring an established NHLer (one like Talbot who brings much needed qualities to the bottom six) is a good trade. Everyone should be more concerned with if he signs and for how much.

As long as it's a 6th or 7th, I'm fine with this. Most people assumed we'd be making an offer for him in the off-season, so I like that Burke is taking care of as many small holes as possible before July 1st so he can focus this summer solely on getting our #1 Center

I hope it's not over 2.0. Even that's too much for what he does, 1.5 is perfect. Curious to know what he gets IF he signs. Great character and leadersip. Plays a perfect bottom 6 role.

Wasn't it announced like 6 hours ago that we send a 5th if Talbot signs with us?
Or has there actually been a deal to give the Leafs exclusive rights now that wasn't done before?
Could be good news if a deal is done considering we've already been talking. We can't get enough guys like Talbot for our bottom 6.
Hope this is a done deal.

Interesting, heard the name before but never paid attention to his twitter. I like the addition, just not sure if it's necessary to have given something up for him. But here's hoping it's just a 7th.

6th rounder or less. This years free agent crop is brutal and overpaid, glad we're avoiding going after him during July 1st.

It's clear that one characteristic that Burke covets is personality. Armstrong, Kadri, phaneuf, all have really big personalities, now talbot, Versteeg did too.

He's looking for upwards of 1.3 million a year though

He reportedly turned down a 4 year deal around 1.3 million per season from Pittsburgh, so if it was a shorter term he'd be looking for upwards of 2 million a year, way too much for a 20 point player.

Acquiring rights for a 4th liner is so stupid. He is a 4th liner and he's going to hit the market anyways.
Sure, Burke may want to get a leg up against the rivals but teams won't be in a bidding war for a 4th liner.

Well we traded a 5th for Mike Brown, and everyone, including me, seemed to think that was a great deal.
If Talbot is acquired for a 4th or 5th, with his solid PK ability, leadership, experience, etc...I don't think anyone should be too upset about it.
