Same with Christian Ehrhoff and Ilya Brzygalov. These signing bonuses are wack.

Who cares how much is in specific years? They're all gonna have similar average salaries anyway just to keep the cap hit manageable.

Just means it's a really frontloaded deal.

If anything that makes it easier to trade him or buy him out when he starts to suck.

$12.86M is max money under the $64.3M cap. 20% of the cap. Salary.

Rangers are one of the few teams that can do that, abuse that power.

I think Colorado will finish 7-9 next year. West is getting weaker if anything. Colorado made the playoffs two years ago and were unhealthy last year. Varlamov finally gets the starting job he wants and proved to be lethal in it when he destroyed the Rangers two years ago.

They're probably just frontloading the deal.

I don't care how much he gets paid in the first couple of years as long as he keeps the cap hit in the range of 6.5-7

If it's a frontloaded deal? Who cares about the actualy salary, AAV is what matters. Keep it under $7.5M.

The Rangers play in NY, that means the Rangers have $$$$$$$$$$. Frontloading deals won't be a problem, it's the cap hit that could be a problem

The rangers paid Scott Gomez $12 million in the first year of his deal...not seeing a problem going to $12.8 in years 1 and 2 for Richards.

Not only will I not boo him, but I'll be at the Garden and cheer him when the flyers visit.
