he's worth 4-4.5 no more.

When you look around the league, you will find plenty of defenseman better than him and earning that salary. Now if u ask what he's going to get, it's obviously gonna be higher, which is kinda sad when you think about, because every year teams are over-paying players to have em on the team, which is caused/consequence of a raise in the salary cap

In other words, it's a vicious circle that never ends, and it's sad for players that signed contracts a few years ago that now look cheaper and cheaper every year. The perfect example I know of is Mark Streit with the Isles 3 years ago. He signed a 5 year deal worth 4.1 a year which was considered over-paid back then for a player that had just scored over 60 pts with Montreal. Now that contract is looking like a hell of a bargain today, and we're only 3 years later. What would a guy like Streit get paid if he was to sign today with the same condition he was in three years ago? 6-7 Million a year?? Probably something like that.....

anyways, that's just my view on this whole thing...

Well, if Bieksa is "worth" 4.6, it's hard not to imagine Ehrhoffreigbefg not worth a million more.

His market value is at least $5.5 mil IMO, so I guess that's what he's "worth."

Yet it's funny how the Canucks most likely knew they could only choose one and they went with Bieksa. And I'd say most of our fans agree with that choice. Bieksa would be a bigger loss than Ehrhoff to this team. It must be the intangibles.

Worth 4.5m, but I could see a very confused GM dropping 7m on him.

4,5 I would say. Not a superstar, not a difference maker. Nice player in the powerplay, solid defender. But this year's free agent crop is thin, so he will get more

He's worth whatever somebody is willing to pay. The suggestion that he's worth X, but will get paid Y is flawed in itself. He'll get paid Y because he's worth Y to that team.

I'd say he's worth what Bieksa got, 4-4.5 Million.

He will get upwards of 6 IMO.

Turns out he'll be paid below what he's worth for 10 years. Assuming everything works out for that long.

Not really. I mean it is probably 5-6 through his prime then sharply drops. It is what was expected + additional years to lower the actual cap hit.
