But in the last 27 games of the season they won 15 games (beating TBL 2x and losing once), with Shannon's play helping to contribute to that success, along with good play from others called up from Bingo.

Side question guys, does Dana Tyrell actually have a good chance of actually making the team again this year? Jones, Picard and Pyatt all stand in the way, and I don't think that looks too good for the guy. (that's assuming the Gagne and Bergenheim sized holes in the roster get filled.)

There's also plenty of NHLers who have spent a season in the NHL, just to be sent back to the A for a year or two before returning full-time.

I don't think Picard will have much of a chance at making the team, but as for your question, I do believe Tyrell will start the season as a Bolt. I liked what I saw from him last season for the most part. His defensive game is solid, he kills penalties, and he can absolutely fly. Add in his willingness to battle, and I think he's just about a lock. His finishing ability could use some improvement for sure, but for the most part I think he deserves to be regular on this team.

Tyrell has a spot unless he went completely backwards in the offseason.

I'll admit I worry a little bit about Tyrell especially since Boucher decided to put in Blair Jones in a few games against the Bruins over Tyrell who has been here the whole year. But with Tyrell's work ethic I know he'll show up at camp stronger and faster and ready to go.

From a Bruins fan, I really want to see Tyler Johnson make the lightning's lineup.

Tyrell had a foot injury during the playoffs. I remember game 4 against Boston when he came back from it he didn't look sharp but he was also dealing with the flu. In game 7 he had his jump back and created a few chances with his speed. I was disappointed he didn't play more in that game because it seemed like he had more jump than other guys. I think his spot in the lineup is secure to start the year and I'd be surprised if he wasn't a regular.

Signing Shannon isnt going to hurt Tyrell. It will hurt Pyatt moreso. And other guys looking to make the team out of camp.

(Jones/Pyatt/Wright/Ashton) - Thompson - Hall

Ohlund - Brewer
Hedman - Clark
Gilroy - Kubina
(Bergeron/Gervais)

Until one, two, or three of our forwards have overlapping injuries.

At this point, it would seem that it is Jones' spot to lose.

Anyone think if Purcell isn't resigned that Ouellet would take his spot?

So...Tyrell, Hall, Shannon, Jones, Pyatt, Ritola, Ashton, Wright, Connolly, Oullet, Picard, Panik, Johnson, Karsums (maybe?)...battling for 4 or 5 forward spots. Listed in order of likelihood IMO.

Then Gilroy, Bergeron, Gervais, Vernace, Jackson, and Gudas fighting for 2-3 D spots?

Still think we need one more of each and wouldn't mind two more defensemen if neither of them is much better than the group listed. Really hoping for the ever more doubtful return of Lundin. He's better than that whole group and obviously not scoring big bucks anywhere else.

Is Ranger running for Governor again?

I agree about getting another Dman. I think our current forwards are set though. I think they will be just as good as last year, which is a good thing.

i actually like it. I agree we could use one more top 6 forward, but who knows maybe a kid shows up to camp and wows the staff and ends up ready for that role. A guy like Ashton or Killhorn could play in that 3rd line spot or a limited top 6 role when an injury happens. We have some depth in young guys for once, but obviously not having a top 6 forward on the 3rd line like we did last year makes it look worse. But Shannon is an upgrade over Bergenhiem long term IMO.

I'm not convinced that Yzerman has Shannon in his long-term plans. However, it is possible that he has a great year and re-signs for a couple more seasons. With Ashton and Connolly coming in through the system, I think Yzerman will leave a roster spot or two open for them to compete for in 2012-13.

That second pairing on defense would give me nightmares. I'd imagine Boucher would split up Kubina and Ohlund, and put one with Gilroy to make up for the lack of foot speed. Hedman's also more comfortable playing the left side, while Brewer can play either side.

What makes you think Purcell isn't going to be re-signed? And no Ouellet is a long shot to make the team, much less crack the top 6.

Oh I'm sure he'll re-signed just worst case scenario that he doesn't. If I remember correctly, he could of been a 20 goal scorer.
