Oshie and Tarasenko for Yandle? Probably.

Oshie and Schwartz for Yandle? Definitely not.

The bigger issue is going after Yandle would be the kind of move where we sell a huge futures package and some salary, which is the last thing Phoenix needs to pile on when losing their MVP. Until the Blues have some of their forwards push themselves into that next tier of player quality and boost their value a bit higher I think blockbuster trades are going to be few and far between.

It'd be one thing if we had 3 guys who all deserved ~$4M but just couldn't keep them and tried to make a need for need deal with Phoenix, but Phoenix shouldn't sell out their best d-man to get a package no matter how shiny and new the prospects are. Maybe at the end of the year if Yandle's hype comes down a bit and the Blues forward core makes a step forward instead of being plagued by injuries then both sides even out the deal more easily.

Not a good idea for the Blues to trade 2 top 6 type players with very high ceilings.

Well they do need left defenseman for the future. They don't need Yandle, but they need someone like him.

How many more years until Yandle is a UFA?

To STL:
Yandle

To PHX:
Oshie
Schwartz
No.

As has been said before, adding Yandle to the roster at the expense of Oshie fills one hole while creating another. Adding the Blues' (arguably) best prospect to the deal ensures that the roster hole remains open in the future as well.

Don Maloney: "Hey, Doug, this is Don in Phoenix. Say, how about you guys send us David Backes and T.J. Oshie, and we'll send you Keith Yandle in return?"

incorrect, they would like a left top 2 dman for the future. want vs need. Moving Oshie or any other top 6 forward does more harm than good, unless they sign a replacement FA first, which in a market where Florida HAS to spend money to avoid losing draft picks, recieving fines and the like....well thats not a market to get too involved with until Florida has shot its wad.
