David Perron practicing with team

From a poster on stltoday.com forum who attended a talk with Armstrong

The million dollar question…Perron. Army said that he talked to Perron today (Wed afternoon) and said Perron sounds confident and he really wants to get back at it. His headaches aren’t as nearly as bad. He said that when Perron first was concussed his condition was a 1/10, now he feels Perron is an 8/10. Army said after talking with Perron today, it’s the first time he feels confident in Perrons progress. Army says he feels Perron will be ready to go on opening night. Brought a big OOOOO to the crowd. IMO, time will tell. Army sounded very confident in the tone of his voice. Real positive here….

That'd be completely awesome if Perron was healthy and ready to go by opening night.

I really hope this is true, with him on our top 6 it makes us much more likely to compete for a playoff spot. I'm sure Perron wants to play a full season badly due to this being a contract yr.

just great!

usually GMs and coaches are abit pessimistic on such interviews because they don`t want to make false hopes...so I think it looks REALLY good!

I was expecting to hear that he saved 15% on his car insurance...this is waaay better, if true.

I just hope Perron is able to pick right up where he left off. But chances are his development will be set back a bit missing a whole season. The good side is that he has the right personality for getting back in gear quickly.

I think the bright side is that if he's training at all, it's at full speed. This isn't the kind of injury they allow you to just nurse back to health or avoid putting pressure on. So it's all or nothing if he's pushing for an October come back. He seems like the kind of guy who's not going to lose much confidence just because he was away from the ice for so long. He never doubted himself as a teenager, why start now.

Awesome news, it would be huge if he can be ready to go opening night. I still think Army needs to go into free angency with the mindset that Perron wont be ready though

Perron being 100% is equivalent to signing a top tier f/a.

I'm from the show me state...I won't get my hope too high until I see him actually training/on the ice.
It's good to hear Army has a positive outlook but until we actually see progress we shouldn't get too worked up.

Perron has yet to return to workouts while dealing with post-concussion symptoms.
If true, in spite of him being a 8/10 when it comes to the concussion if he isn't working out there is no way he is going to be ready for training camp, probably even the pre-season.

I think we're getting very, very close. Perron is tweeting a lot more and the confidence level of management tells me he's almost there.

I'm hoping he'll be doing workouts by August.

Maybe the tone of it is medically cleared and pushing for play time by the camp not premium minutes or a major rebound that early.

Just because he isn't working out now, doesn't mean he won't be ready. We have another 2 months until training camp and it won't take that long for a professional athlete and professional trainers to get his body into proper physical condition. Perron was never a big guy, so losing a little muscle won't kill his game. The big thing for him will be getting his head back into the game, making sure that he just plays and doesn't think about another concussion.

Came here to post a question on this... glad to see. This guy is awesome and would be a huge boost to your up and coming team

Am I right in thinking this was from the Thornton hit? Even though it was a "dirty" it is really hard to believe he is still feeling it 8 MONTHS LATER! I guess them's the apples with concussions... Best of luck 57

Hit him in the back of the head and then his front side hit the ice on the way down, fact that he got up and scored (Kariya style) only to be sidelined this long is pretty amazing.

It's not unlikely that the fact that he played afterward is what exacerbated the concussion.

Being an eight out of ten sounds all well and good but it could take three weeks, or three months, to get to a ten, the recovery from these injuries is so unpredictable. I'm glad he's making progress but until he is fully cleared and has resumed training then I'm not going to get my hopes up on him returning anytime soon.

he's a professional athlete who has been sitting for over (has it been 8 months, jeesh) half a year. He's going to take a few months to get back into game condition/speed.

No way he is ready for camp and probably not the pre-season either.

Professional athletes can get in shape a lot faster than the average joe.
