Konopka-White-Rupp or Eager.

Add Vandermeer to the blue line and we have a team that will win. The top 6 will be able to play without worrying about the pests and bullies. Ditto with the 3rd line with Moen on it.

We get tough, the top 6 gets confidence.
Correct, we do need more sandpaper besides White...One of those mentioned would really help the top 6! I would prefer Rupp...

Why not Higgins for a top 9 role? We'd have better depth than Moen and Darche eventually going to the top 6 like last year.

Or bring back Ryder too and we'd have our old Habs team

Konopka is an intriguing choice. A goon that's also 4th in the NHL for faceoff wins at 57%. Those are two thing we could use.

I don't really know that Konopka guy but he is being so hyped by the fans here that my expectations are gonna be way too high. His status will pass from "goon" to "face off specialist that can put good numbers". Or maybe we so don't want to be disappointed at the thought of not signing a top 6 that now we hype 4th line players like superstars.

Konopka
Auld or Garon

Maybe it won't happen tomorrow but a backup would be a good thing if they don't re-sign Auld.

Zenon Konopka - Perfect 4th line centre with shut-down potential. Would love to see him in Martin's system. Would give the opposition fits.

JP Dumont - Could fit in really well in our system having played in a similar system in Nashville. Could replace Pouliot and be motivated enough to have an impact.

Jarrko Ruutu - Could be a nice addition and replacement for Lapierre.

Cam Janssen - Not huge, but brings lots of energy and could fight guys like Lucic and take some pressure off our top end guys.

Scott Hannan - Could be a great replacement for Hamrlik if he would be willing to take a one or two year deal.

Ray Emery or Pascal Leclaire - If either could be convinced to play in a backup role short term.

Alex Kovalev - Call me sentimental but would love to see if he could finish his career in Montreal. Would bring depth and could fill into a top role in case of injury. Could potentially recapture the chemistry he had with Pleks and Kost.

He's a guy who is big, can hit and fight and takes big faceoffs. In a team as bad as Montreal has been in the circle and lacks size as much as Montreal does...He is what a lot of people are hoping our bottom lines will look like this year...myself included.

With just under 14mil in cap space, IMO the Habs re-sign Gorges ~2.5mil per and they could use another dman but there is no one left on the market that interests me so I hope they wait and see what trade opportunities come up over the summer. A back up goalie for 1.5mil max, at the top of my wishlist would probably be Hedberg, good veteran that can still play. I would look for a top 9 RW on a short term deal, 1 or 2 years at about 3mil or less. Options could be Jagr, Vrbata, Langenbrunner, and Gagne. I wouldn't be against bringing back Halpern on a 1 year cheap contract. Give Engqvist a little more development time for that role. I expect White to be re-signed, and that would leave about 5.5mil in capspace with one roster spot open. If the Habs think they are fine with the 7 dmen they have now, with the last forward spot I would be interested in Winchester on a 1 or 2 year deal.

With still over 4.5mil in cap space, the Habs can look into trade possibilities such as with RFA's that can't come to terms on a new deal.

So you want 3 4th liners who are soft as butter and stand around as our top 6 guys get manhandled by any and every team.

Pacifism rules.

I wasn't on his bandwagon at the beginning, but Anthony Stewart is starting to grow on me. He's big and put up good numbers, he would look GREAT on the right side of AK and Eller.

AK - Eller - Stewart

Skill and Size =)

Gagne? I would offer him about 3mil on a 1 or 2 year deal if he was the option chosen.

Simon Gagne.

Wouldn't be against it, but his injuries worry me.

On a second thought, I'll pass.

What to do, What to do

Let's imagine that PG want to be agressive tomorrow what are the options

for a top 6 spot, i have only 5 names - Eric Cole - Jagr - Leino - Gagne and a surprise option

Cole, like is size and his grit, not to old but often injured, not my first choice

Jagr, talent but older than old, but could be a good gamble

Gagne, Injury prone, but has talent and he's still fairly young at 31

Leino, young, talented, i like

surprise option: Tomas Fleishman, had a medical problem last two year, it is suppose to be taken care of (not an injury, a medical condition) in 45 games last year 12-19 31 6'1 192....

In order: Leino-Fleishman-Jagr-Gagne-Cole

for the bottom 6

Konopka, Rupp, Talbot, Eager, Bergenheim, Ward, Upshall

Konopka: not many points, but rough, great on face off, block shots

Rupp: Big body, rough

Eager: Same type as Rupp

Talbot: gritty, ton of heart clutch

Bergenheim, Ward, Upshall

To be honest with you if we could sign any of these players, they would be a nice addition to our bottom 6

One of Konopka or Talbot
One of the others would be nice. When we talk of the big bodies, Rupp, Eager and Ward are all 31 smaller shape Upshall is 27 and Bergenheim 28

If PG is looking for some Depth on D three choice for me for the first day
Jonathan Ericsson - Shane O'brien - Andy Greene

it's a choice if a big body: Ericson or O'Brien - more offense , Greene

then there is the options in a couple of days, guy's that might be there after the first waves of free agency and that could be addition that could help the team

in no order

At C one year deals = Arnott, Eric Belanger, Vern Fiddler
at Wing: J.P. Dumont - Chuck Kobasew - Anti Mietinnen - C Drury - Matt Bradley - Raffi Torres -

On D= Jan Hejda, Steve Eminger, Nick Boynton, Randy Jones, Scott Hannan

And for Carey Back-up here is some options

Garon-Theodore-Hedberg

If when september comes we have this

Leino-Eager-Belanger-Theodore

or

Jagr-Konopka-Ericsson-Garon

or

Fleishman-O'Brien-Arnott-Conklin

or

Gagne-Talbot-Boynton-Hedberg

or any combination i'd be happy

i believe we'll have the following

One of Rupp or Eager and maybe Belanger or Talbot and that's about it....
