Would like to see San Jose sign Ehrhoff. He was great before with them. San Jose can give him 5.5 per and is a winning team that he wants. Makes their D one of the best.
Brent Burns - Dan Boyle
Christian Ehrhoff - Marc Edouard Vlasic
Douglas Murray - Jason Demers

As much as I would love Ehrhoff to come back to San Jose... For $5.5M, Hell no
That'd be a scary defense though. So will Buffalo's if they work out a deal with him. It seems like the *new thing* is going with five good defensemen and having a sixth guy to ease the minutes.
1) Players don't seem to run back to a team that traded them. Unless it was a "were not going to make the playoffs, care to take a cup run and provide us with a 2nd rounder?".
2) Salary cap issues. Once they fill out a 4th line (~2.5m), and sign 2 more 3rd liners (~3m)... that leaves only about 3m.
Sharks also don't seem like a team that is likely to spend to the cap in summer. It's a pretty big number.
I suspect they pick up a D man at the deadline, like White last season. Saves the team a few mil in exchange for a pick, plus you have flexibility.
Plus a rental contract leaving in the offseason, combined with Nitti's expiring contract and another cap increase, would let the Sharks sign both Couture and Burns while keeping everyone else too.
So they can ice this team for 2 seasons hopefully.
no, no, no. We would be screwed next year. Logan's contract is up Burns will be getting a new contract this season. If Ehrhoff would take Bieska money to play with the Sharks than yes, but he is out of our price range if we want to be able to get a solid third line player.
This would be an acquisition that would finally put San Jose over the top, it's a risky move but if you finally want to win it all you sign Ehrhoff and deal with whatever comes later.
is sharks move nitty they would be in a good position 2 make a push for him, the sharks d core is good not great. they do need 1 more dman. ideally i would sign 2 more bottom line fowards at league min, i would resign white, at 3mill, sign talbot at 1.8/2m per, then see if cole probably not, or arnott could be had in that 3/ 3.5 range, and where set.
murray will be much more effective playing 15 mins instead of 20, would be probably the best 5 6 dman in the league, and come playoff time wont be as dinged up, same goes for boyle beings that burns eats mins in all situations and is almost ten years younger.
why do Sharks fan not like this guy? From the games i watched when he was with them, he was pretty good. If they have the Cap space to sign him, they should, they would have the best defense in the league.
or we could just trade heatley today to tampa for stamkos rights, and then sign him long term in the 8/ 9 million range, we wouldnt have to pay that much more given the fact that heatley makes 7.5 and ideally not give up four first rounders, come on tampa do it, lolol never gonna happen but i can dream.
I would rather we use that money and make sure we can sign Burns and Couture... also he probably wants 6million and 6 plus years i wouldnt touch that with a 10 ft pole...

He's not bad at all, most of us are still pissed we didn't at least see value out of losing him (especially to another Western contender).
Right now Demers is a cheap knock-off of Ehrhoff, and that's all the Sharks have to pay.
They would have to ice 500-700k players on BOTH the 3rd and 4th line to afford Error(only ~3m in cap space left if they sign competent 3rd/4th liners).
Plus Ehrhoff signed this off-season and beyond means Burns/Couture can't both sign contracts next off-season (unless they dump Heatley or something).
It just can't happen. Sharks don't have 4-5m for a D man, they have 3 at best, and I doubt the Sharks management is going to go to the cap right now also.
Plus Ehrhoff probably doesn't care to return. It's just not going to happen.

he had his best season in SJ when we had our most stacked team. losing in round 1 left a bad taste in my mouth. i was fine seeing Error, and some of the other parts of that embarrassment leave.
i agree, wtf, why havent we signed white, if so we could still add 2 off kennedy talbot arnott and 2 fourth liners for league min, and were good. we NEED 1 more d man still

I don't think that most of us completely dislike him or anything, although he does have a tendency to shoot the puck wide (). Honestly though, he would be way too pricey considering what holes we need to fill. He would strengthen our defense and all, but he doesn't really fit well now.

Murray as our 3rd pair D? Hell no. He is a big shutdown guy that logs big minutes against opposition's top line. It's great we have Burns but Murray is one of the better and underappreciated/overlooked shutdown D in the league.
Pairings should go like this:
Boyle-Murray
Burns-Vlasic
?????-Demers
I say we don't really need Ehrhoff as good as he is. I'd like a rugged guy like Aucoin come in and bring along Demers
