Geoff: Hey Pierre! You ready for tomorrow?
Pierre: I sure am.
Geoff: Are you as excited as I am?
Pierre: Of course.
Geoff: Richards, Jagr, Gagne, Kaberle... this is gonna be great!
Pierre: We'll do our best
Because of that crazynine fellow. I'm just really excited about tomorrow in general. Come on Gauthier make a reputation for yourself and save mine on HFBoards. I backed this guy as our GM and **** if he ****s up this golden opportunity to bolster the roster and make us a serious contender he is a ****ing tool.
I'd like to give thanks to that jags8686 dude who kept this thread going, as well as late bloomer ymorin. Without you we could not have pulled off 4. Thanks to everyone else for making this thread happen. You have no idea how many insecure people are cringing just at the sight of this thread
If Jagr follows the internet he probably knows habs fans are going nuts about the opportunity of having him play here. Sorry but I have never bought an official NHL jersey. If I do it's a red habs Jagr jersey if we get him. Make it happen Gauthier sell your merch!
It seems there is a lot of dissenting views about signing Jagr now, but I thought I'd share why the idea excites me.
The Habs is undoubtedly the most storied and successful franchise in the history of the NHL. 24 Championships, the most HOFers, arguably the best team ever assembled in pro sports = Habs late 70's. Do you realize if he's signed, he'll be the top career producer playing for a Montreal team?
Habs top career scorer = Guy Lafleur - 1276 ppoints
Jaromir Jagr - 1599 points
Jagr was also Hart Trophy finalist 6 times (won once)
Won Art Ross 5 times
Won Pearson 3 times
Ladies, this guy is in my book top 10 all time NHL (if you have him less than top 20 you're ********d)
Now all this means nothing really. He's 39 and away from ther NHL for some time. But did you see the World Championships? This man has fitness, he's got game, and I think he has something to prove. No doubt in my mind he'll make everyone better. NO BRAINER.
Pierre Mguire said on the team990 today that penguins offered 1.3 to 1.5 for one year to Jagr. Surely we can do better than that. If we can sign this guy for 2 million that' a good investment for a guy who can work the PP, probabley put up atleast 20 goals and 50 points, and can magically dissapear next year if we don;t want him anymore.

I'd just take a chance. For once can we be that club? **** it's not Gomez it's Jaromir Jagr! 4.5 mil per, 2 year deal.
Take the risk. We have cap space and a limited market to contend with. Nobody will offer him 2 deals or 4.5
Show Jagr you have confidence in him, pay him well let him live it up in Montreal. Be the hero he will become. Then after that he won't want to leave. The guy could potentially play till 43 and still be good.

why pay him that when he's contemplating a deal for 1.5? he will obviously settle for much much less than that. And though I want Jagr on our team and think he can work the PP, i don't think a 39 year old should be given any m ore than one year.
PG should just say ******* it, and attempt to either trade for a legitimate top 6 forward, or wait until the trade deadline when some teams will be looking to move contracts. Saving the $ for February is always wise, even though teams can overpay at that time of year as well.
This is Sundin all over again. Jagr would only be a one year experiment anyhow......
