He's a 26 year old Swiss Free Agent. I really feel he shouldn't be included in the first, but he was voted in, so there you go.

Bennett. I wonder how many of those who have voted for Diaz have seen him play.

Well it's something you have to accept with such a poll. Appart from Leblanc on team canada and Timordi in pre-season, can't say i've much more than game highlits for the rest of the crop.

I went Engqvist because I think he's closer to the NHL. High end upside is pretty much done at this point. Weakest prospect pool in years.

When was the last time our 8 first prospects had so much upside? No superstar, except maybe Beaulieu and Avtsin, but pretty deep.

He's the same age as Yemelin, if Yemelin is on the list then Diaz should be too.

Do you feel Yemelin is a prospect?

If you take both of them out, I would agree you can make a case. With Yemelin in, there is no reason for Diaz not to be. Diaz is actually only 25 and a mere three (3) months older than Yemelin.

Bringing over Diaz and Yemelin was big for that. Two guys that weren't on the radar last summer. Not to mention Gallagher and Palushaj having good seasons. The highly touted guys like Kristo, Leblanc and Tinordi are the one who didn't have a good year.

I'm not sure that would matter. Bournival and Nash are both awesome prospects as far as I'm concerned.

Also, there is Qualier who is a bit of a mystery. He was a Top-10 prospect by THN and if not for his injury, might still be. Let's see how he bounces back this season because I have a feel he could be a Top-10 prospect again.

It's weak at the top, but I'd agree pretty deep. While our top 3 guys would ideally be #3-5 type prospects, our top 11 or so are all legit top 7-8 prospects in most farms I'd guess.

To be perfectly honest, no I don't consider Yemelin a prospect. As defensemen, they haven't hit the prime age of like 27-32, but still they're full-blown, high-level professional hockey players. As far as the learning/development curve goes, I feel they have both surpassed the label of "prospect." At least that's how I see it.

If we went out and signed Sergei Mozyakin, who's 30 but never played in the NHL, would anyone around here call him a prospect? Of course not. So why would we call Diaz/Yemelin prospect. Yemelin I can sort of understand because we drafted him and what not.
