I saw on capgeek that he has a one-way contract for the next 3 years with a cap hit of 900 000$. Will he fit in the line-up next year? Why does he has a one-way contract? Any info?

bc he was a undrafted college free agent who was too old for an ELC. apparently he is good, so if you wanted to sign him, you had to pay him a lot of money

One of the few ways a big budget team like the Flyers still have a bit of an advantage. Since he was no longer eligible for an ELC, the Flyers could offer him a one-way, and if he doesn't make the big club they can easily afford to pay his full contract to play for the farm team. A lot of other clubs don't have the luxury of easily paying a player almost a million when there is a good chance he will be playing on the farm team. So most clubs would offer a two-way contract.

So basically the Flyers gave him a one-way contract to improve their chances that Read would sign with them, as most people would chose the contract offer that is one-way compared to any that were two-way.

He wouldnt be playing center. Last season, when given time in the AHL, they played him at wing.

He can, but it seems like they are looking at him for wing. We already have 2 really small centers. Read would just add to that. Even if Schenn is a rookie, he is atleast bigger.
