Marinaro has been proven wrong over and over, he's a less reliable Eklund.

Actually hes been proven right for a while now. Everyone was laughing at him when he came out and Said Jagr was looking for a deal around 2 million. Funny nobody brings that up anymore.

I agree! Was going to say the same thing... Marinaro is a joke.

Why not? I would be proud to see our owner not fear improving the team at that cost.

A dream:

Gomez traded
Jagr Signed
Richards Signed

Markov - already signed
Gorges - will be signed

That would be a hell of an offseason, and I'd actually be excited for next year.

I agree.

Apparently PG feels he can either move Gomez, buy him out or (ala NYR or Oilers) send him and his contract to the minors!

Personally, (and despite the fact that he is a good player) I'm not a big fan of Richards - don't see him as a team-first player (despite his previous captaincy).

In any way (Richards or no Richards)....moving Gomez out absolutely works for me!

Good Luck Pierre Gauthier!

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't go as far as saying we got zero chance, but that Renaud "news" clearly looks like a planted leak by the habs ownership to make themselves look like willing spenders and please the fans...

I give this story little cradibility.

I agree with you. Marinaro has gotten A LOT of things right. He's gotten some things wrong too but he's gotten more things right than just about anyone when it comes to the habs.

The opinions are insanely polarized on Marinaro it's funny.

Calm down. I don't mind Marinaro, but get your facts straight. He said there's 0% chance of Jagr coming to Montreal. Gauthier was not interested. Guess what? Montreal put an offer.

If we were to buy out Scott Gomez:

2011-12: $1,801,587
2012-13: $3,801,587
2013-14: $4,801,587
2014-15: $1,944,444
2015-16: $1,944,444
2016-17: $1,944,444

If we were to bury him in the minors or trade him:

2011-12: $0
2012-13: $0
2013-14: $0
2014-15: $0
2015-16: $0
2016-17: $0

Pegula coming in to give Buffalo a blank checkbook certainly ups the pressure pay whatever it takes to succeed.

The fans wouldn't care one way or another, the HFBoards contingent is what, 1% of all Habs fans? 70% won't even hear about this reference, not even tangentially.

Is that a fact now ? lol...

Did Gauthier tell you that ?

All I've seen is Svoboda quoted as saying he only talked to the habs once about Jagr and they weren't interested at all.

Us signing Frolov would've been a Michael Scott "No god please no" moment.

If we land Richards, I am probably going to get a bag of Gelapano chips and just get drunk with my friends. No big deal, really.

But, he also said that Geoff Molson was intrigued with the idea of Jagr, and could have convinced PG of it. Calm down Bro.

Why? There's nothing that suggests he doesn't want to come here. He would rather go to the Leafs than the Habs? Right...
