Your wishlist for tomorrow

One of Joel Ward, Éric Bélanger, Raffi Torres, Maxime Talbot, Mike Rupp or Zenon Konopka to play on the fourth line.

One of Ville Leino, Marco Sturm, Erik Cole or Michal Handzus to fill a spot on the top six while brining size.

And Ed Jovanovski or Scott Hannan.

In the better world, I'd want
  • Ville Leino signed at 4 years/3.5M$ per
  • Zenon Konopka signed at 3 years/800k per
  • Ed Jovanovski signed at 4 years/5M$ per
  • Cheapest backup available, possibly Auld

Then we get to ride this lineup next year:

Leino - Plekanec - Cammalleri
Pacioretty - Gomez - Gionta
Kostitsyn - Eller - Desharnais/Darche
White - Konopka - Moen

Ed Jovanovski - Alexei Emelin
Andreï Markov - Josh Gorges
Hal Gill - PK Subban

Price

This lineup would be one of the BEST in the league. Look at that fourth line!

For top 6:

1. Jagr
2. Cole

Bottom 6:

1. Ward
2. Anybody who is not 5'11 or less

Everybody else is pretty much 'meh' for me.

Not bad, but I wouldn't touch Leino. I would prefer Cole.

wow, you're way off with the Jovocop signing. he's lucky if he gets 3 and even luckier if he gets it for more than 2 years.
Leino will break the bank if he signs at that much. Jussi Jokinen just signed for 3M.
Konopka on the other hand will most likely get around 1-1.3M.

my own shopping list :

Line of doom :
1.2M for Konopka
1.1M for Carcillo
900k for Eager

and to back them up, Commodore at 600k and Hannan OR Souray 2yrs at 3M.

Me too, I'd like to get Leino at 2-3M long term
or Cole at 3-3.5M
Otherwise, I'd also try to give Gagné a shot at greatness and immortality w/ the habs. Give him the rights to the movie we'll make on his carreer once he retires if he plays with us. something like 1yr at 4M, 2 yrs at 3M each or 4 yrs at 2.5M each

Top-6:
Jagr 1 year, $4 million

3rd-line (1 player if Jagr signs, 2 if he doesn't).

1-2 years (preferably 1), $3.0 million:
Miettinen/Torres/Higgins/Joel Ward/Brunette/Fedotenko/Upshall/Upshall

2-3 years, $2.0-3.0 million/year:
Kennedy, Bergfors, Anthony Stewart (at the low-en of the salary scale).

Not going to happen Offersheets
Dual offer sheets hoping to force Philly to have to choose to let go of one of the two following players:

Wayne Simmonds: 3 years, $3.2 million/year
Jakub Voracek: 3 years, $3.8 million/year

Ward/or Upshall
Hejda

Cammalleri Plekanec Jagr
Pacioretty Gomez Gionta
Ward Eller Kostitsyn
Don't care much about the 4th line right now, pluggers can acquired through various ways.

Markov Gorges
Hejda Subban
Gill Yemelin

Your Jovanovski proposal is way out to lunch, the guy is coming off a FOURTEEN point season and you want to offer him 5 mil for 4 years? seriously?

Not only that but he is now a 35+ so if his decline continues you are suck with a 5 mil albatross on the cap that would make Spacek look like bargain!

Jovanovski 4years@5Mper?? Not at all...he is not worth more than 3Mper. Leino will ask for more than 3,5M...At least 4M.

Is Vrbata still a UFA?

I think he is the only top 9 forward out there that probably wont be overpayed, looks like he'll go under the radar a bit.

Sure he is soft but he is a good finisher ~20 G per season and as good speed. He would probably fit in our team and we really needs a forward who can help us score more goals! Plus he is money on the PP. Pretty sure we can get him for a 3.5 M/$ cap hit

Cammalleri - Plekanec - Kostitsyn/Vrbata
Gionta - Gomez - Pacioretty
Desharnais - Eller - Kostitsyn/Vrbata
Darche - Konopka - White/Moen

We would have 3 good offensive line.

I don't think what we need is goal scorers, we need guys that will help our goal scorers reach their full potential...somebody that might only score 15-20 but create space for guys like Cammy and Plekanec out there. Plus maybe a top 9 guy like Stewart to give us more depth.

Leino I find that like Versteeg is better suited for a 3rd line role and I don't want 3+ mil on the 3rd line. I think he'll end up signing for 4 mil 3-4 years and end up overpaid.

I don't think it's what you meant, but I would love to trade for Sam Gagner. I think there is a realistic chance he is available, if the Oilers decide to keep RNH with the big team. I believe they would need NHL ready defencemen in return.

A big time name : Richards, Jagr via free agency or a blockbuster trade (ex. Statsny)

UFA : Mike Rupp

...the rest, I don't care...

(Oh, and trade Gomez !)

If Teddy Purcell becomes available because Tampa signs Stamkos, I'd take him over any of the UFAs out there. He's dynamite and really young. We could give Boucher some of his Bulldogs in exchange.

I dont know, maybe your right! Tough when I look at last season, I remember who many time our forward missed an empty net with a bad shot who just couldn't even hit the puck on a nice pass. That's why I was looking more in a goal scorer!

I hope that PG keeps the best possible asset: cap space. Unless he is able to sign a bunch of 4th line plugs for 1year contracts, I want him to stay put and to keep his money for a UFA season that is actually worth it. Tallon just screwed everyone by offering Konopka a donk contract, meaning that other plugs will want similar money and years. Don't do it PG, keep the cap space for trades/UFAs next season!

Other possible wastes of money that should be avoided: any 35+ contract for more than one year (PG refusing to do it for Hamrlik, yay!), Jagr, any UFA D because the market is inflated.
