He formed a goalie tandem with Roloson before in Edmonton.

Your quote had the source in it. Bob McKenzie retweeted it, if that makes any difference.

Finally closing the book on Mike Smith. I liked Smitty, but good riddance.

I like Garon, he was great for the Jackets at the start of the season but fell off when he was carrying too much of the load, that won't happen here. 1.3 cap hit seems to be it, I'm on board for that. Smith was probably was asking a bit too much.

Not to mention Roli and Garon have worked together before with the Oilers.

Ah well, good luck Smitty. I really thought he would have been the perfect backup for another season. Hope he gets picked up somewhere.

If I had to bet, my money would be on Phoenix or Colorado picking him up. Cheap starter.

I'd say Phoenix. Dave Tippett is familiar with him from Dallas.

French Canadians FTW!

Too bad Smitty never panned out here. Terrible owners, imploding management and the concussions ruined his time here. He'll bounce back and be better for it in the long run.

Garon is French-Canadian. Montreal-South continues to grow!

Back-up goalies are not meant to be exciting

His numbers seem pretty consistent... I say this is a pretty level headed signing.

A pretty darn competitive one, at that. Should be an interesting year with these two.

Not a bad signing but he's not any better or more consistent than Smitty except when he's having a bad day. Will we resign C-D?

Another thing with Garon is he is one of the better shootout goalies in the league. Which is quite the contrary with Smith.

I think it has something to do with that he's a righty catcher. Usually goalies catch with their left and shooters have adjusted to that. Switching all that around can mess with them.
