Wouldn't it be weird?

Wouldn't it be weird if Phoenix Coyotes won the Stanley Cup?

Who owns the Coyotes right now? The NHL?

Wouldn't people be running to own the Coyotes AFTER they won lol?

Given the fractured nature of these playoffs (with most of the favourites on the brink of elimination or in tough series), it's at least possible for the Coyotes to go on a run. They have a terrific goalie, sound defensive system, it could happen. So let's see what the result would be.

Gary Bettman would not have his name engraged on the Stanley Cup, nor would any other league executive currently affiliated with the club. The owner's section would be left blank. He's said the same thing for the past three years.

But, and here's the tough thing, how can you move a team that's also your defending Stanley Cup champion? That can't be good for PR.

The Coyotes have never made it out of the first round...ever. EVER! Let's stay focused here.

They haven't as the Coyotes, but as the Jets, they did it twice, once in 1987 (best-of-seven, swept in the second round) and once in 1985 (best-of-five, swept in the second round). It's not easy supporting this club.

Heck yeah it's easy supporting them. You can't support a team just because they are winners. True fans stick through the hard times!

How long have you been a fan? Myself, it's been 15 years, and it certainly feels like an eternity. Supporting the team since 1980? Now that's what I call masochism.

^this. I was a fair weather fan as a kid (grew up in Florida, didn't really care so much when ESPN started showing hockey in the early 80s, but to root for someone I picked the team closest to my birthplace, North Dakota)...then I moved to Phoenix, then the Jets moved to Phoenix. Fate, right? It's been torture, absolute torture. If I see them win one bloody series in person, I might cry. Seriously.

Honestly, I can see this team eliminating Chicago and Nashville to get to the WCF. What they do from there is up to them so i'd say you guys have a decent shot.

I've only been a fan since October, but I'm already pretty sure the tears will be falling should they take the series on Saturday. I can only imagine what the long-time fans will do.

I agree. The tears will flow like wine (Dumb and Dumber reference). I do not have tickets but plan to sit in front of the stadium to watch the game on the big screen. I want to be a part (in some small way) of this game. I encourage other Coyotes' fans to do the same. Fandom the hard way!

I lived in Phoenix in 2010 and rooted for the Coyotes, Canucks before the Winnipeg Jets came back.

But my first hockey game was with the Manitoba Moose when I went to Winnipeg for a vacation so I had to "DESERT the DESERT DOGS" lol.

Coyotes don't have a owner still right?
