Talbot is a funny guy and good for keeping everyone loose, but I think you guys may have given him too much. If he gets back to his old form (speedy, chips in at times, always starting $hit), it'll be worth it. I don't know if he'll get back to that though one way or the other.
I dunno. Besides the l-o-leighton signing I can't imagine a better way to waste money. We let powe walk for a player that costs twice as much?
How about additionally to the Leighton signing give 1.1mio per to Jody Shelley and trade one of your franchise players (Gagne) in a salary dump move while allowing the other team to dump 1.7mio on your team for an absolutely useless player (Walker). Nothing will top last year, (except we give an offer sheet to Stamkos for 15mio per and will have to trade half of the team afterwards)
It's worth nothing that Talbot over-performs in the playoffs just based on his numbers. Like I've said before, I root for the logo on the front, I don't care if he played for the Penguins, the guy was a very good player who out-performed his role and knows what it takes to win.
Him and Pronger together will also be produce classic soundbytes.
Powe is getting a new contract himself, but centers have much more value, Powe wasn't a center he was a winger who took draws because Blair Betts could not.

Term's a little long, but I'm accepting that salaries have gone up in the NHL and this isn't far off the going rate for a 3rd/4th line player with grit. I hate signing Penguins, but I'll reserve judgement here.

Wow, this has been one of the weirdest offseasons ever for Pens and Flyers fans. Especially for you guys considering the whole change up of your team. But anyways, i know you guys probably don't like Talbot much right now but i have a feeling he's gonna become a fan favorite in no time. Especially in the playoffs, he's still one of my favorite despite his jersey.
Lappy will get LTIR and Leights will get to spend another season with the Phantoms clearing cap space. Simmonds will get signed.
This signing just makes it look like Betts/Shelley could be gone or be made extra forwards or take Schenn's 3rd line spot until he's ready. The most bothering thing about it is the length of the deal as many have said before.
