I am indifferent on this signing but you can't really compare this on the same level. Auld has pretty much always been a back-up and traditionally gets starts against inferior competition and Budaj has been Colorados starter for most of the last 3 years on a horrible team.
I would have preffered Auld back but lol, dont jump the gun, Price is a young goaltender who is blossoming in one of the most beautiful goalkeeper in the league, can play alot and Budaj can do the job as the number 2.. so funny to see some fans going crazy right now and going to say in some months from now, it wasnt a so bad signing after all..
The most important when you have an elite goaltender like Price in the net, is having a second one with a good attitude that will encourage the team and will be decent in the net when his turn comes.. I think we can all expect this from Budaj.. He has played for a crappy team for years, so do take his stats as a grain of salt..

Budaj is exactly what we need. Quality backup goalie who can step in and do a decent job if Price gets injured, or keep a fire under Price to not go into a major slump.

Budaj has played over 20 games 5 times in comparison to Auld's 4. The most games in a season Budaj has played is 57. Auld played 67. Not much difference, really.
Not a great signing, there were better candidates out there, but not a bad signing either. I'm more pleased with this signing than I was with the Auld one. Though this confirms something, we knew already, a french goalie will never be a Habs.
