Nobody in Hartford has Rupp's size or experience. When you get hit by injuries and it's the stretch drive or playoffs, I'd rather have a veteran than a rookie step in.

In all seriousness, i play Rupp on the PP and let him just take a beating in front of the net.

No, just filling in spots with what we already have. That's kind of the point of putting the roster like that. He doesn't fit anywhere if he's not a 1st liner (which he's not). Same with a few others. That's what all my questions were about - how is it going to shake out now?

Very unflattering picture of Rupp on NHL network.
Makes him look like a homeless man.

There was absolutely no point to signing Rupp unless we lost Fedotenko, and even that is arguable. I don't really see the point in signing a fourth liner. There's no reason your farm can't provide a friggin fourth liner if you really need one.
You can't get a 6'5 guy from the farm just by snapping your fingers. He has some talents that a bit harder to replace than your normal 4th line scum..

There is no doubt in my mind that most here whining about this will be happy with him come October. I'm all for this move. He can score some goals, plays very physical, will protect teammates giving Prust some breathing room in that dept, and just plays angry.

Welcome to the club, Rupp!

Rupp can play a regular shift. He is a good enough skater that he could even spend time on a 3rd line, not ideal obviously. I have no problem having a guy with his size and toughness that can play a regular shift for 1.5 per. He can skate, hit, and protect his teammates. Now Prust does not need to fight heavies.

yeah, Rupp is basically just a slightly less skilled, but significantly larger version of Prust. Totally behind this move. I dont get the Fedotenko signing though. but its not going to break the bank, so whatever.

Really nothing to hate about this deal. Prust can't go it alone...and Rupp can actually play hockey, unlike some other guys we've had as enforcers. The PBR line should be tough to play against. Can't wait to see them in action.

I'm going to be pretty disappointed if Boyle gets traded.

That RBP line is going to be amazing.

It definitely has potential. I want Boyle to take the next step this year with his physical play. He had a few brief impressive stints, but I think he could definitely take another page from prust/rupp or even fedotenko.

Prust was at PBR at MSG in January so it's more than just initials...

Rupp is a solid hard working NA. Can never have too many of those guys.

This pic of Rupp has "UMAD" written all over it:

Btw, what do you guys think the 4th line will look like?

I have: Avery-Rupp-Prust.

Pretty much any NYR lineup I can draw up right now has Avery as the 14th forward. Unless they move Fedotenko to RW.

any idea how much center he played? i thought he played more LW? he's 50.6% on faceoffs so thats a plus if we need him there

Do you have Hagelin and Wolski in the lineup? My hypothetical doesn't have either.

I have Boyle with Richards/Gaborik. That's probably why mine is a bit different.

I posted that Boyle-Richards-Gaborik line in another thread (cant remember which one) but i remember a few posters shooting it down.

Personally i like the thought of Boyle doing the dirty work on that line, being physical and opening up space for Richards and Gaborik.

I don't think Boyles good enough to play first line minutes and score. Love him, but I don't think he scores 30 goals like that. I think he maybe scores 20 again at the most.

People who like Prust will like Rupp. I doubt that $700 annually will make a difference.

for the past, i dunno, 6 years or so, all ive been saying is, id rather have a guy who can play hockey, hit, and contribute out there on my 4th line than to have a heavyweight.

Miek Rupp is everything ive always wanted in a 4th line player. tough, willing to drop the gloves, can play a regular shift and not only "not hurt you" but actually be effective and helpful out there.

im going to go out on a limb and say that Rupp - Boyle - Prust will be the best 4th line in hockey, assuming all 3 are with the Rangers next season (i have a feeling Boyle may be traded...just a gut feeling, nothing ive heard)
I'm the same way.

I went from "meh" to "ok" to "I am in absolute love with this signing".

Rupp is the perfect 4th liner; big, strong as an ox, tough, will stand up for teammates, great in the room, can PK, and will even chip in the odd goal or two. He can actually play an effective game, unlike Boogaard or Brashear. He's not some goon who's there to create problems, he's a guy who can contribute positively to the success of this team.
