Might not be a bad idea - "something to prove" Commie is better than "the other 97 percent of the time" Commie.

to career ending injuries? Detroit doesn't make stupid moves so I'm sure big red will play like a wild man again after his 3 year vacation from the NHL.
Yeah, I can't imagine effort will be a problem for him this season. He has plenty of motivation.
OMFG. I have been laughing all morning over this one.
Quote:
“Mike Babcock was without a doubt an obstacle in my career,” said Commodore of the coach who traded him from Anaheim to Calgary in 2003. “I wanted to prove him wrong, I’m not going to lie. I used him as big-time motivation. I thought he put his best foot forward to bury me.”

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!
funny you guys are laughing..which team was it again that paid him 6mil a year??? we got him for 1mil for a 6th d-man that's going to replace Salei. It's not what we wanted really but you can't beat 1mil for 1 season. low risk high reward.
Glad you all are chuckling over this!! I'm kinda not...because...
I see a guy hustling, busy on his man and Methot wide open, leaving the slot area open to allow the goal against. Guess it's just me...LOL I will miss Big Red. I will. I wish him well.
Will Commodore be arrested when Detroit comes to Columbus? I hear there's a warrant out for his arrest for Grand Theft.... On the order of several million dollars...
I'm in the "I wouldn't laugh too much camp" too. He's got a track record of being useful for about a year while he is motivated. I'm going to guess that he's motivated.
I'm also guessing that the CBJ are probably more of a motivator/villain to him these days than Babcock is.
It wouldn't shock me if he logs a respectable season for the Wings.
Definitely some winners when re-reading that oldie but goody. Fair amount of hopeful realism thought too, I think. Very appropriate skepticism.
I've seen that "uglier than homemade soup" line in some recent debates and it reminds me that I don't quite get it. Is homemade soup ugglier than non-homemade soup? Soup seems to be soup to me.
