Just so you know the main injury concern with Sullivan was around 4 years ago with his back. During the 09-10 season, Sullivan played 82 games. You should get at least 60 games out of him and he still has some great hands.
Always a favorite player of mine, but it's hard to get excited about signing a soon-to-be 37 year-old with back problems.
The good thing is that his hands are a million times better than Dupuis's.
It'll be interesting to see what he can do with legitimate playmakers. The Penguins top six is a whole different beast than the Predators has been, that's for damn sure.
“The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile, but that it is indifferent. If we can come to terms with this indifference and accept the challenges of life within the boundaries of death, our existence as a species can have genuine meaning and fulfillment. However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.” - Stanley Kubrick
This move essentially means our entire roster is set, at least as far as free agency goes. As for the move, I don't hate it. Sullivan is a good player when healthy. We also have tons of cap space for the trade deadline where we figure to be very active.
Why even spend the money? Just save it, I find it impossible to believe there was another team offering him 1.5 million or even another team.
He scored 51 points in 09-10 on an offensively inept Nashville team. His production slipped slightly last year as he dealt with injuries, but posts like this one are ridiculous. Have you been paying any attention to what's gone on today? $1.5m for a guy that can put up 50 + points when healthy is a very good deal, especially when guys like Max Talbot are getting nearly $2m over 5 years.
What is the matter with all of you. Shero isn't paying Leino 3.5-4 so all of you thinking we'd pick him up are nuts. Sullivan is exactly the stopgap we need until trade deadline or next year's FA. Sullivan can be brittle all he wants, throw him on geno's line with neal and watch what he does with the open ice.
