More than likely, yes. Would that be better for him?
That's when he excels. Play him more (Like Montreal had to due to injuries the past couple seasons) and he shows his age at the end of the season. As long as he plays around 20 minutes a night, he's a very solid top 4 guy. I think the doubters here should read the Habs farewell thread, it shows how appreciated he was, and what you're getting with him.
Just out of curiosity, I expect Hamrlik will play with Wideman or Green from what I'm reading. Do you guys run all 3 lines pretty equally, meaning Hammer will probably play about 20 mins/night?
The Alzner-Carlson pairing gets the bulls share of the tough minutes, especially against teams with one dominant line. The other two pairings get about equal even strength minutes if everyone is healthy and playing well. Powerplays for either team can skew the minutes for an individual game, though.
So, yeah, Hamrlik will hopefully have appropriate minutes assuming the defense is relatively healthy.
Roman is still a good hockey player. He's reliable, just can't be relied upon as much on the PP as before and can't play many 25+ minutes games and stay effective. As a 20min 2nd pairing player he's great tho, and a good mentor for young defensemen.
