He or the team?

Hannan was a huge reason they were able to play the new system and retake the division. He was so steady.

Green plays a lot more than everyone else because of PP time, but yes, I expect Hammer to get 18-20 a night.

More than likely, yes. Would that be better for him?

Really like Hamrlik. We'll hate him at first and he'll seem slow, but he'll prove steady and ready.

Think Sylvain Cote wih more shots blocked.

You're going to like him, he'll frustrate you some nights but he's sound defensively, decent offense and most importantly, he's played 18 years in the NHL... doesn't get anymore experienced than that

Just don't expect flash on ice, he's not flashy

Literally and ironically, this is what Colorado fans told us about Hannan.

That's when he excels. Play him more (Like Montreal had to due to injuries the past couple seasons) and he shows his age at the end of the season. As long as he plays around 20 minutes a night, he's a very solid top 4 guy. I think the doubters here should read the Habs farewell thread, it shows how appreciated he was, and what you're getting with him.

The Alzner-Carlson pairing gets the bulls share of the tough minutes, especially against teams with one dominant line. The other two pairings get about equal even strength minutes if everyone is healthy and playing well. Powerplays for either team can skew the minutes for an individual game, though.

So, yeah, Hamrlik will hopefully have appropriate minutes assuming the defense is relatively healthy.

Hamrlik carried Phaneuf on his back in Calgary and Phaneufs even more of a moron in the d-zone than Green if BB doesn't try that pair together I will go insane

Hamrlik was amazing this year in Montreal ... he really showed he could shine with Markov absence. He rarely do any mistakes ... he's always showing up.

Doesn't look like it's a popular signing for you guys but trust me, you'll love him.

Riding the tube in London, it was always, next stop, Hammersmith.

It seems Roman can hang when we need a goal, and blocks a ton of shots. So he can support Green at both ends of the ice. Come on Bruce, give Green a mentor. I didnt like Green's last season.

So the best part of Hammer may end up being helping Green get back on his game.

Roman is still a good hockey player. He's reliable, just can't be relied upon as much on the PP as before and can't play many 25+ minutes games and stay effective. As a 20min 2nd pairing player he's great tho, and a good mentor for young defensemen.

my guess is that hamrlik has been acquired to be tom poti. he won't get much pp time with green and wideman there. that will cut his minutes.

Pretty much, although I don't expect him to log as big of a PK role and he does deserve a chance at LD on PP2.
