How much will Kaberle get?

THN is reporting that any GM who offers him 3M/year for any more than 3 years should be heavily scrutinized.

Give me a break. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this just the bitter east coast media trying to chew him out for not waiving his NTC sooner?

Yeah he isn't physical and yeah he didn't have a great playoffs... but how is Erhoff any different from him and he just landed a monster contract.

Erhoff is 1 inch taller and around 10 pounds lighter. Neither of them is ever going to get 70 hits in a season. Erhoff has scored more goals(28) over the past two seasons... but one could argue that that's thanks to the wealth of quality playmakers and sound positional players around him.

I'll be surprised if he scores 10 goals this year with Buffalo and that's if they sign Richards. He could still be good for 50 points, though.

Give the number of free agents out there I wouldn't be surprised to see Kaberle get 15~18 million over 3 years. Especially since the cap just jumped so much.

If everyone thinks I'm crazy them I'm praying Edmonton lands him at 5M per year over 3 years. I couldn't imagine Edmonton landing him, though.

Columbus should sign him and Wiz to give Carter and Nash the offensive support they need from the rear.

I think there will be enough teams interested to drive up the price to $4.5m per year or more on a somewhat shorter term deal (3-4 years). He didn't really fit in with the Bruins, but he's not a bad player and very skilled offensively.

Honestly I see about what he was getting. Between 3.5-4.5 per I think would be fair.

He might as well sign with the Preds. We're gonna be the first team to roll 8 Dmen.

If anybody manages to sign him for less than 3.5, congrats to whoever you are. Talk about bang for your buck. I bet he'll get around 4mil for 3-4 years though.

Kaberle is a better player than Ehrhoff but hasn't been competing nearly as hard as him the last couple seasons. Ehrhoff isn't great defensively but he gives an honest effort in his own zone. IDK if the same can be said for Kaberle. I think he gets 4.5ish for his offensive talent. If he gets that with a team like Detroit that has some good vets with a winning culture I think he can be a very good player again. If he signs a big money deal with a team like Columbus, he's not going to be very good.

Well from what you guys are saying I dearly hope Edmonton signs Kaberle for 5M multiple seasons. Would be incredible for Edmonton. If we could resign Whitney for 6 or less for multiple years the future of our blueline wouldn't look too bad.

Pretty sure that ship sailed when Chiarelli tried to trade his rights.

are you kidding me? kaberle is better then erhoff??? erhoff has a cannon from the point, not too bad in his own end (much better then sammy salo or kaberle) .....
I think toronto always just overrated there players...falls in love with them...people from toronto think Luke Schenn is the second coming of Larry Robinson...

Kaberle has never been as good as he thought he was, or Toronto thought he was IMO. He's a guy that played O.K surrounded by a good Boston D but was a minus player the last 4 or 5 years in Toronto. If he wants to be paid like "The Man" he has to play like it.

Depends if GMs think Kaberle is a 2nd pairing D-man (I do) or a top-pairing one (he's not).

If second-pairing... $3.5M to 4.5M/yr. If top-pairing, $5.5M to $6.5M/yr.

Supposedly Boston was looking to sign Kaberle for no more than 3 years at 3-3.5 mil per season. Now that they've drafted Hamilton they only want a short contract giving Hamilton the time to develop. Kaberle apparently ain't having this and wants something in line with Pitkanen/Markov's contracts.
