We could use the extra cap space. Two seconds and a third is not a bad return for him. Read it wrong, Florida's choice on the 2nd rounder so just one. Still its alright for us freeing up the cap
Please be Gagne. I will maybe kiss you Homer if you sign Gagne .

The Gagne-Schenn-Simmonds line reminds me very much of the Gagne-Richards-Knuble line, but much younger .

Great. Buy high and sell low. Before today I would have traded him, but I actually would have preferred to hang on to him once they made the signings. They would have had room to keep him and sign Simmonds by letting go of Betts or Shelley.
Maybe there's a silver lining, though, if they can make a play for Gagne. I doubt it, though.
I think it goes back to something I felt before and said here, but he was here to help Mike Richards on the 3rd line. Richards is gone, and now Versteeg, too.
And it's a decent deal. Basically rented for the playoffs, and went from a 1st to a high 2nd.
I agree with your points. Plus we have some relief to get Simmer signed up.

I actually really like that team. The only real question mark is chemistry.

It's essentially a push. We could easily end up getting a better player with the Panthers 2nd than the Leafs got with our 1st.
Here comes a repeat of 06-07. I fully expect Homer to be resigning and "accepting" a smaller role with the organization. What a failure. Finally get a solid goalie and he firesales the whole team.
