This deal is OUTSTANDING, the Oilers get a veteran, a big and tough guy, for an utterly useless bag of pucks. Well done Tambellini, WELL DONE

Agreed. It gaurantees another tough guy on the ice when the kids are out there. Doughty won't be running Hall anytime soon without some retribution. Finnaly!!

I hear what you're saying, but damn, the contracts being handed out for those type of guys (Ehrhoff, Wis, etc) are so ridiculous. Unless there is a trade available, I'm glad they haven't gone big game hunting. Not yet at least, maybe in a few years.

I was busy pitching the benefits of re-signing Vandermeer. (whom the Oilers never even contacted).

And now?

Vandy is in San Jose for 1MM next year.

So, Tambellini has added over 4MM of cap hits to the defence core. Its "arguably beefed up" but there is no easy way for Renney to put together more than ONE pairing.

TreenasOil Tracy Lane
@dstaples Foster has to pass a medical, Tambilini has a bad rap because of the Kings with Brule and Fraser

Jeez, lol. Toughness is priority no.1 on a small, young team like this.

We are still likely a lottery team next year, we need to focus on making sure our kids are protected.

Turnovers ... even faceoffs .... honestly I don't give that big of a crap about at this stage of our development. Being bad in those areas probably props us up a few spots in the draft anyway which isn't the end of the world.
Well...contrary to what you might think puck possession is primary.
Especially when you are trying to develop players...kind of tough to do that when you are chasing the puck for 20-30 seconds after 75% of the faceoffs.

Hall, Eberle, Omark, and MPS did well enough last year.

We still have a ways to go, this year is 100% about getting tougher/bigger guys around the kids as far as I'm concerned.

Everything else is gravy.

Maybe it's best to require a medical for Sutton as well. Too bad it's being seen around the league that Tambo has questionable ethics. Karma Lombardi, karma.

Yup...we shall see how Horcoff (once again) gets run down from taking 3/4's of the important draws. We shall also see how well this defence reacts after consistently turning the puck over.

Good recipe for development...should be fun.

EDIT: If the Oilers acquire Belanger like the reports are suggesting it would help Horcoff immensely.

Tambellini gets a lot of credit for dumping crap players that he has brought to the team a year or so before.

Sutton certainly adds some toughness on the back end. He's huge.
that backend is looking nasty for the physical side....and Plante and Teubert developing nicely as well

Yeah him and 28 other gms have questioable ethics. Lombardi had a mission and he used health issues that were not major.

To me, Tambo needs to sign a C like Belanger, as Horcoff has proved he's not willing to improve. Great captain though.

It is confirmed Tom Gonzola from the Oilers just tweeted that Sutton is in, he works directly for the Oilers.

It's okay, Tambo's image will be repaired in time ,and now we have Sutton by the sounds of it.

We sure changed this team today!

I have no interest in Tambo going big game hunting...its not necessary. Hejda was the player I think Tambo should have targeted.
Hannen would have been a smart pickup as well.
