This and I like the deal based on some of the other signings that have been taking place today.

I can't wait to see what kind of trades are coming.

Trying to think a few moves forward

Something involving Ennis and Boyes for top 6 C (Brassard? or maybe more...)?
Sekera for Filppula?
Or maybe even thinking about Briere is not out of the question.

Vanek-xxxx-Pominville
Leino-Roy-Stafford
Hecht-xxxx-Gerbe
McCormick-Gaustad-Kaleta

Or similar... with the defence + Miller - its certainly a team built to win now (or in 3 years )
Adam in the third line role and trade ennis with boyes and Calgary 2nd for...

Walmart. You can get 'em at Wegmans, too, but they're cheaper at Walmart.

You got Kovalev lite.

He is not useless. To give any return for investment. You must play him in Top 6 and give him lots of PP icetime. He can deliver about 70 points and for that prize it is ok.

Couple youtubes.

Ville Leino. A 53-point man with the Philadelphia Flyers last season and developed nice chemistry with Daniel Bričre. What happens on a new team in new surroundings?

Ville Leino, starting at 12 noon, is no longer a member of the Philadelphia Flyers.

After putting together a few last ditch efforts to re-sign Leino, including talks that extended into last night and this morning, Leino’s agent, Bill Zito, confirmed to the Daily News that his client will test the open market beginning today at noon.

Leino, 27, is sure to demand a lot of attention from other teams.

With 19 goals and 34 assists last season, Leino is the second-highest scoring free agent on the market after Brad Richards.

He is coming off a two-year, $1.6 million contract that was originally signed with the Detroit Red Wings.

According to sources, the Flyers were willing to go as high as 4 years, $12 million on an offer for Leino, but he believes he can find more on the open market.

It’s hard to blame him, considering Tomas Kopecky - a player two years older with 4 less goals and 7 less assists last season - signed in Florida for the exact same amount earlier this week.

Leino does have a bit of an injury history after an intense hip surgery last summer, something that may make some teams think twice before offering a longer term deal.

Hitting the open market doesn’t preclude the Flyers from bringing Leino back to Philadelphia next season, a place that he has always said he wants to be. It just makes it harder with such a soft market this offseason. The two sides will check back in as the offers come in.

Ville Leino was a freakin' deal the last two years. The Flyers resurrected his career, he turned into quite the offensive power in the 2010 playoffs, and then had a decent 2011 season in which we learned that he's as one-dimensional as one-dimensional players get in the NHL.

We knew he was going to get a raise, and the Flyers were apparently willing to pay him a four year, $12 million contract (as reported by Frank Seravalli). They weren't going over that, and damn, we should be thankful for that.

The Buffalo Sabres signed him to an unbelievably obscene six year, $27 million contract today. The deal was announced by the team and the details were reported by TSN. It's overpayment in every sense of the word, and it's $1.5 million more per year than the Flyers were willing to dish out. Can't blame him for going after the money at all... but holy crap, Ville Leino is not worth that much money.

We loved the guy during his time here and it was fun while it lasted. Not upset about losing him when all is said and done, though. Everybody is overpaying this year, but think of it this way: Jaromir Jagr for one year at $3.3 million, or Ville Leino at $4.5 million for the next six?

Flash gets the same salary as Leino?

I'll take Leino over him any day, great signing!

Regier is a firm believer in sabremetrics, and Leino had a big GVT last season. If reports are true that Philly is hard after Richards, I'd think that Buffalo and Philly may have a deal for Briere. We know he'd waive for Buffalo.

I like Leino. He's a great player. This is a good signing if we have Leino play wing. I think he's better there. I still want to acquire a true top 6 center and if that means shipping wingers out and shedding cap space in doing so, then so be it. Leino makes us a better team. If we can manage to trade Boyes and/or Hecht and bury or trade Morrisonn and Kotalik, we could still have enough cap space to fit a center.

Maybe getting Leino means we have plans to package a winger or two, could be Stafford or Vanek, for a top 6 center like Spezza or Stastny. My gut feeling says we're not done. Pegula just said minutes ago he wants Richards still. We still have options.

Who knows... Spezza/Stastny... or maybe Ennis + Sekera for Pavelski. Who knows. I wouldn't think any of these players would move but I've given up trying to predict things since Pegula took control.

I wouldn't like Adam in that position.. more as an AHL'er ready to step up when needed.

Really like Flip, or if they go UFA route then Eric Belanger.

Not liking this signing.

A lot of money for very average production.

... and this was my first, instant reflex thought when they announced it.

And trade Hecht...

Kotalik, Morrisonn, Boyes and Sekera are all definitely gone - surely.

Maybe Ennis + if its a nice player they want.

Who freakin' knows what is moved for Briere. I would think not as much assuming Philly sign Richards.

"As one-dimensional as one-dimensional players get in the NHL."

Very true. But you didn´t sign him to kill penalties or play 4rd line. You play him in Top 6 and PP1. Problem?

To anyone who thinks the money is bad - Fleischmann got the same money for slightly less term.

I love this. Leino is a better option on the wing than Boyes.

Boyes can be moved for a pick, only .500 more on the cap for a better winger.

Love it!
