Sorry, but Mo and "fun Ambassador" just seem mutually exsclusive to me. Would like to see him retire as a Star...he's already had that moment once...wouldn't have a problem revisiting it and getting him as a community outreach/player development guy.

After hearing his radio interview today, I really wanna see this work out. Guy's had some tough obstacles to get where he is now. Hopefully he can stay healthy

Could you give us the highlights from the interview?

Agreed. I know he had his issues with Oilers management but hearing him say that they "do things a little different there" was interesting. He seems like an intelligent, likable guy; he should fit into the group pretty well.

Basically he talked about he last few years of his career. His problems, which included a divorce, oiler management, injuries , his time in the ahl and why he played there. He also went on to talk about how he was in negotiations w the stars in years past and was very interested in dallas. He mentioned also his fight with Barch, playing with morrow, Robi, Ryder, and Ribeiro. He sounds extremely motivated to prove his critics wrong and claims to be completely healthy .. Im sure there's alot more im forgetting but I believe you can hear it on the stars home page

Man ... I just realized that Dallas doesn't go to Edmonton until March. I'm interested in seeing how the fans receive him. Going to have to wait a while.

We have it confirmed that @ssouray is Sheldon Souray. We have some work to do to get his followers up.

I hope the team considers giving him a no-fighting directive. It's a little like the Ott situation from a few years ago where he kept getting injured whenever he'd drop the gloves. Then there was that good period where he cut way back on the fights and the rest of his game took off. Then this past season the pugilism returned a bit and we saw a corresponding drop-off in production and overall play.

Hopefully, that's the case. Players that have something to prove usually have a really good season. Still didn't care for the signing, but there is basically no risk and all reward. I'm in the wait and see mode on it.

Just after hearing the interview, this is no.1 on my list.. Maybe even playing him with somebody who can drop gloves if necessary but he just can't afford to risk anything.

He's training with Chelios so maybe we can get another proven D-man cheap??

Really enjoyed that interview. Sounds like a decent guy who just wants to leave all that sour buisness behind him. Seems genuinely happy to be here and motivated to re-start his career. Hoping it works out.

Heh, he really thinks Edmonton's organization blows, doesn't he? Awesome.

Not that I doubt him, mind you. The Oilers have... issues when it comes to player management. And guessing from how he described it (being hospitalized for several days and having antibiotics for 9 weeks), it sounds like he may have had MRSA, which is nothing to mess with. I can understand him not appreciating the Oilers insinuating that MRSA is not that big of a deal.

Piqued - IIRC, Ott's "no fighting directive" was because he actually had a cast on his hand and would take an automatic match penalty if he dropped his gloves. But I am not against the idea that they tell Souray to let someone else handle that part of the game.

Hell, that might be the biggest upside to putting him on the ice at Daley sometimes. No one comes flying over to keep his teammates from having to get into a fight like Daley. Or Fistric could practice his helmet-swinging skills.

Does Souray feel vindicated?

Edmonton's docs lied/misrepresented/or just plain misdiagnosed Brule and Fraser. Anyone think they were right about Souray?

Apparently Souray was in LA at SummerSlam last night with his mom. He's dating one of the girl wrestlers now, Kelly Kelly. How long before he quits on that as well?

Came lurking now that the season has started to see what yall thought of #44.

Great read! The strawman stuff was killer. Reminded me of logic class in University. I followed along for a while and then one day...they just lost me.

Good times, University.

Anyways, the key to Souray is health. If he's healthy, he's happy, the team's happy, everyone's happy. When he's injured, not so much.

Ciao.
