That is my point as well, being under the cap but, contracts like this are just wastes and feeding 'into the frenzy' of the day. Spots better filled by other means, even via boys from the Worc. no doubts about that at all.

so whats the status of Wellwood? He is a UFA? Any hints that the Sharks will try to keep him?

white isn't needed when we have demers+burns (and boyle of course). Without burns I understood having white, especially before demers really emerged this season, but now we have 3 pairs with a guy who can move the puck and get a hard shot to the front of the net on each pair. What we did need was a solid veteran defensive defenseman who can hit/block shots at least until we're certain that braun can be solid paired with another young guy in demers.

With murray, burns, and vandermeer, our defense definitely looks a ton MEANER. I like that. Someone just needs to slip some bull testosterone into vlasic's cereal or something, dude is way too much of a wuss for a defensive dman.

He is a ufa, no hints I've heard of, and I don't want him personally. Too small/easily pushed around. That line needs to get tougher.

1 mil for a solid 3rd pairing defenseman is not a waste, and the money saved (I'm guessing around $2.5 mil) and term (We would've signed White to a multi-year deal) is going to help us re-sign Burns and Couture.

Just hoping it doesn't mean that we won't be seeing the likes of Braun and/or Moore getting their shot at a spot and simply trying to prove their worth just as Demers did.

Rival GM says Handzus about to sign with San Jose. Would be great fit. Pavelski moves back to 2nd line. Beastly Handzus is third line force.

Apparently, the Wellwood option is still open. Somebody tweeted the Sharks for info. Both sides are looking at other options for now.

At least Handzus is a decent player. Wins faceoffs, kills penalties and can play a shutdown role. He's also huge. He's definitely not the dud that Wallin and Huskins were.

2.5 a little high, but Handzus is pretty good. Not bad, IMO.
