"There are good fans there, but Winnipeg is still Winnipeg," Belanger said in the report. "In January and February, I doubt that my family would follow me out there for a holiday."
Edmonton weather is significantly different from Winnipeg whether how?
good signing, need to get rid of cogs maybe for a 4th line center and add 1 more legit top 4dmen (if petry isnt ready) and this might be a decent team still a legit goalie away but who knows dubnyk might be
My lord. There truly is no optimism with you is there?
I'm super optimistic about this team, but I agree with Replacement. Eager was an absolute joke in that Canucks series. Literally a laughingstock. Hurt his team very, very badly. I don't hate the signing since this team desperately needs muscle that can play some minutes (sorry, Smac) but Renney is gonna have to keep Eager on a short ******* leash, IMO.
All this time I thought we were looking for a first line/first PP unit Center. silly me.
Where did you get that idea? When people were debating whether or not the Oilers should draft RNH or Larsson? Maybe it's because I don't lurk often, but I can't recall where posters were hoping Tambellini would acquire a first line centre via free agency/trade, nor do I believe Tambellini said he was interested in acquiring one, other than RNH.
Plus I don't see why Eager is getting all the love for what he showed the Nucks.
Ben Eager was an idiot in that series.
As he's often capable of being.
I wonder how long before the wtf did Ben Moreau or Eager Ethan just do posts start kicking in? October I imagine.
Elliot Freidman reported that getting sat in the PB was a real lesson for Eager in that series. I think we may see a smarter version of the old Ben Eager which has the potential to help this team.
I am as big a Tambo detractor as there is on these boards and I do not see a lot of downside here.
That has what to do with anything? He signed here. He's willing to play here.
Clearly he has signed here. This isn't a discussion about obvious facts.
The question I'm raising (repeated here for your sake) is what exactly makes Edmonton as a city so significantly different than Winnipeg? Or is he just going to "bear" Edmonton like a good soldier because he got the bucks he wanted?

No you're right; this isn't a discussion for obvious facts, but a discussion for "facts" that are all speculation.

Eager was a goof in that series, but I am willing to give him a chance. It is unfair to judge a player on 1 game or 1 series. We'll see though.
As far as Belanger goes, I was relieved when we got him especially since Reasoner and Fiddler got snatched up. Belanger fits the hole.

Why does this even matter? 1.75 is not an overpayment by any stretch of the imagination.

Judging from the reports Belanger got an offer from several teams. I'm sure he would have gone elsewhere if he didn't want to come here.

Yeah. Today's forward signings send a clear message that there will be no more free lunches for rookies on this team like there was last year. If Martindale, Pitlick, Hamilton, Hartikainen etc want to get on the roster and crack the bottom 6, they'll have to bloody well earn it. Good on Tambo. That's how you build a winner: internal competition. Nice.
