How Much Has Mac's Price Gone Up?

4.5 mil per season for Leino
4.5 mil per season for Fleischmann
4.5 mil per season for Cole

MacArthur's 62 points this past season is more than ANY of those players have EVER posted in a single season.

Goodbye Mac. That's what that means. No way burke gives him anything over 4.25, unless it's a one year.

his price hasn't gone up at all. UFA signings have nothing to do with arbitration rulings.

Luke Schenn could probably get $5+mil if he were a UFA right now, but he's not.

Are you sure about that? I think Mac's representatives will make damn sure the arbitrator knows Leino's contract before he made his ruling.

But they had the fortune of being free agents today, MacArthur didn't. I don't think it will affect MacArthur's contract that much (if anything at all).

lol if all contracts (including RFA) goes up then we will pay him what he is worth ... obviously.

RFA will not go up this much. They will jump a bit because the cap went up.

Yeah....we actually got owned on this. As much as I like the guy, we might get some value out of him at the trade deadline.

5.4 for Kessel is a bargain though, 4.5 for Leino?

Why would we do that .. He plays on our top 6 ..
Why is everyone trading him before he is signed or goes to arbitration.

Newsflash, he isn't UFA. Look at Jussi Jokinen for reference.

We'll see, cause if you think he'll get 4.5 then

Besides who cares, we have the cap room and it will be a ONE YEAR deal.

Too bad we didn't re-up Mac, will see what Burke does now. Maybe go on a world tour.

Not as much as you'd think. He's RFA. Different than UFA.

before people keep posting out of panic from the title, just know that, again, his price hasn't gone up at all because of todays signings. things are the same with Mac as they were a couple days ago. nothing has changed. relax.

I don't know exactly how arbitration works, but I'm sure that the arbitrators are aware that there's a difference between UFAs, where the whole league can get into a bidding war, and RFAs, where it's the team and the player (barring the rare offer-sheet). Perhaps the overall trend of contracts will make his go up, but I don't see him getting more than about $3 million, if that. People should remember that the only reason he was awarded $2.4M last year was that Atlanta didn't put in any counteroffer, knowing they were going to let him go anyway.

What this has done though is make me want him re-signed. I thought perhaps we could get a replacement if we don't agree with the arbitrator's results, but with the huge contracts free agents received, I'd easily take MacArthur over any of the players mentioned in the OP or leftover now, even if it's a bit higher than we expected a few weeks ago.

Also if it's too much, Burke will walk away.
